Gophers add another stud.

This week... he's back to being a Gopher's fanboy. Next week back to Nebraska?

Bottom line is getting elite high schoolers is nice, but the "portal" will remain a big factor for filling gaps in lineups.
The portal and NIL for an athlete will almost make signing top high school kids a thing of the past.

What programs have the fan base to have a kid get $40,000 a year by selling a "Free the Lee" shirt for example?

You can only gt 40K selling shirts if you are a starter. If anything, it will make keeping any depth a tough thing to do. The top kids will still find a place to go.

Huh?

(NIL) A number of schools are developing plans to utilize social-media platforms as a critical recruiting tool. Note WSJ article on University of Nebraska. Link below.

I think tee shirts will be a drop in the bucket compared to what the top players will get for car dealership commercials. That's why big money will determine National Titles for years to come. Oregon will once again be a power house in all sports thanks to Nike!!!!

Or when an SEC school deems that every player as part of the educational requirements needs a car so they can make it to class because the sports only dorm is too far from campus.

If only Jeff Bezos was a fan of the teams I follow

Iowa should pay Spencer and Caitlin to use Iowa in their likeness. That would be a win-win for them and our sports programs.

Actually, I think Iowa could pay Spencer and Caitlin to promote Iowa.
