Grapple On The Gridiron Ticket Sales

There won't be that many people out tailgating 10 hours before the football game.

Yes, but that many will already be planning to be there Satirdat, which imo is the hardest part, once they are heading to IC half the battle is won. Just need to alter planned time frames a bit.

Does anyone have a feel for how close to the dual date the University plans on waiting to make the call to keep this in Kinnick vs moving to Carver? Or what forecasted % chance of rain they are willing to roll with? I mean, it can't be safe to wrestle on a mat with ANY rain can it? So if it gets to Friday and the forecast is, say, 30% chance of rain, then what?

Looking for an excuse? The great thing about the date of the event is that, in the chance it moves inside you still get to go to a great football game that night.

The plan is to make the call one way or another a couple of days in advance. I don't think the U of I has publicized any forecast specifics that would prompt them to move the meet to Carver.

If the forecast is nebulous enough, it could be a very tough call, as you imply. If the forecast calls for relatively mild temps but a 30% chance of rain, for example, a judgment call will have to be made. I suspect they'd tolerate a little bit of rain in the hope that it wouldn't be sustained throughout the day and the meet could be squeezed in with some slight delays. But not doubt, it could be a tough call, especially a couple of days before the meet.

just get the football bullet heaters on the sides to blow the hot air on the mat and evaporate any moisture that might accumulate

A little moisture won't hurt. Surely, most of you have been to an Iowa practice. I was shocked at the standing sweat on the mats.

This dumb guy didn't book a hotel room in advance. All the hotels are booked from what I have gathered. Anyone have any tips on any lodging?

Cedar Rapids is pretty full also. Try small towns like Mount Vernon or the Amanas.

Pleasant Stay Inn and Suites at exit 201 may have rooms. I assume you're coming from Omaha? Are you staying Friday and Saturday nights?

Priceline had rooms at Americinn and HIE in coralville last week. HIE was $169/night I think. Keep checking. There may be cancellations.

Go directly to the chains sites also. Sometimes they stop selling their rooms on 3rd party sites.

After literally spending my entire afternoon looking I got one! Economy Inn and suites in Cedar Rapids if anyone is looking. I'm guessing I have some bed bugs coming my way because it's only $155 for 2 nights. I was thinking I would be spending $500 for nights.

Got my season tix today. Didn't have the Big Ten or Olympic Trials tix with it. Do those come separate?
You have to buy seperately.

? No you don't. Packages for these events were available to purchase right with season tickets.

They come separately however.
Are your telling me there is not a seperate charge for BIG tickets? If so I have $200 coming.

Well...if you bought B1G tickets with your season tickets, then everything was charged together at one time. If you didn't purchase them with your season tickets, then yes, it would be a separate charge that is billed at a different time. But regardless of how you purchased B1G and Olympic trials tickets, the tickets will be sent separately.

It's going to happen. The only thing I've experienced with wrestling outside is condensation on the mats. Every time. Usually late summer, the mats cool down and grab the humidity.

Humidity will be low and the mats will be heated. I don't see anything stopping this one as long as the mats are hot enough not to grab any dew. Once they get wet they're almost impossible to get dry and just an injury waiting to happen.

Hand fighting and tying up wins everytime over shooting on slippery mats. Advantage Iowa.

Moisture won't be a problem for Okie State. This will only help them skate to the edge of the mat without making it look so obvious.

We can get tickets the morning of dual walking up correct? And if so where? I've got a group of approximately 10 coming.

Also looking for 2 tickets to football game if anyone is looking to get rid of them.

Southeast corner of Kinnick (will CHA booths be open too?). But you'll be joining a few thousand or more of your closest friends in the ticket line if you go that route.

I heard on the radio this morning the ticket office is strongly recommending everyone order printable tickets online. For whatever reason I don't know. Maybe like Wendy said they are expecting long lines.

I will be attending the wrestling meet. How easy would it be to get 2 tickets to the football game at night? Is there typically a lot of people selling them outside before the game?

Probably not for this game unless you want to pay.

Undefeated, Blackout, Primetime, and new jerseys....kind of a perfect storm for those that got it early.

It will be tough to get a couple tickets for the football game unless you're willing to pay over $100 per ticket. Since fewer season tickets were sold this year, there are fewer people selling extras. And the football game is a sellout.
