Are Tom and Terry planning on him getting back down to 197? I sure hope so, as we need a true 197 pounder. Nothing against Wilcke, but he can't compete with the big boys at 197. Go Hawks! Thoughts?

McDonough weighed in on this during the radio broadcast & implied no. He said it would be short sighted to have Holloway cut down to 197 with Stoll hardly back from a major injury.

I do think he should eventually be a 197-pounder. Maybe he surprises me and ends up a Danimal Erekson-type heavyweight, but I don't think he has the frame to be a legit heavy. He's just dwarfed by some of these guys.

If he proves me wrong, more power to him. I'd think he could be pretty salty down at 97, allowing Wilcke to drop to his natural 84 after Brooks finishes up.

Just my 2 cents, and my take on this subject is worth about that much.

I just hope his confidence isn't suffering from it. Many heavyweights are just too big for him, he's not good enough on bottom to get out from underneath big guys and if he gets caught underneath on a shot he gets flattened.

Absolutely agree for next season ... Wilcke 184, Holloway 197. Go Hawks!!!

Is Brands using this season for Holloway like many redshirts at Iowa do? Where he has guys wrestle up a weight and then drop back down for varsity competition. Only exception would be Holoway has been wrestling varsity and they usually weigh in at projected weight but wrestle up. Which would be much easier at 133 like McD did his redshirt year than heavy. 20 pounds should not be that hard to lose unless he is already cutting but I don't see that. I hope he makes the move back down. He is not a heavyweight.

This situation is so F'd up I can't think of a rational/polite way to describe it. And none of that has to do with the kid himself (or so I assume - I gather he's "taking one for the team"). Constantly plugging holes with a napkin is a poor way to go about winning National Team Titles.
