House of the Dragon

I forgot to mention the foot thing with Alicent and Larys.
Where did that come from? It seems new, but Alicent teased him up a bit as she took off the stockings, and when she turned away she knew he was going to town. Who even thinks that stuff up, and, how did Larys ever broach that subject with Alicent? Hey, your worship, I'm going to help you out by killing off my dad, brother, and anyone else you want, but I need to whack off to your feet.
Something you got to know about specialists. They pay a premium.

This wasn't in the books either. It was pulled from left field for sure.

Why the hell didn't she dragonbreath the entire hightower clan then and there? Obviously the only person that knows is GRRM but, wtf? With the post-episode previews/review, it's even more dumbfounding.

(feet are gross and if you whack off to feet, you're gross, too, just like Larys)
Rhaenys is playing both sides. She's got a good offer from Rhaenyra to have her granddaughters marry Jace and Luke, which would make them queen of Westeros and Driftmark. Rhaenys still thinks that Rhaenyra murdered her son Lanor, so there's that. She said in episode 8 that she stands alone. Both sides want her in an alliance, but Rhaenys really wants to keep the family safe and to pick the winning side. She will let them fight it out and see how it goes.

I can agree with that, however, the only thing that makes sense is she thinks that her granddaughters will die if she dracaryses the hightowers? Otherwise, why not just...eliminate that entire side in one fell swoop.

Yes. This is why I don't like when they stray from the books. This dragon at the coronation wasn't in the books. They knew it was episode 9 and they wanted to make something big and dramatic happen. It doesn't make a ton of sense logically.

Alicent trying to play the game with honor (or quasi-Ned Stark) with her monster of a son who is now king. She is going to be due for a major meltdown.

Well, the afterburner would have toasted Alicent and Otto for sure, but she also would have been taking out her brother's kids (her nieces and nephews who are Targs) and countless other Houses like the Lannisters, who probably would not appreciate their kin getting torched, so she would make enemies out of Houses she wants to keep in fold.

Plus, she just witnessed the people of Kings Landing accept the new king, so she would possibly turn the people against her) alluded to earlier in the show when that brothel owner informed Otto that the people allow them to rule and can turn against the royals).

Finally, she has some honor and probably doesn't want to go down in history for regicide and kinslaying. Even in that brutal world killing the King or your family members is looked down upon. Now, killing a bunch of commoners with a dragon that bursts through the floor, not a big deal.

So who in HotD are Rhaegar's ancestors?

So essentially at the start of the kinslaying there are two kids by Alicent, Aegon the Second (ie Jackoff kid) and Aemond (ie the one eyed kid). On the other side are the three Strong bastards plus the white haired toddlers fathered by Daemon, Aegon the Third and Viserys. Aegon the Second is king for awhile then horribly burned and in a coma so ole One Eye is king until he is eventually killed. Aegon the Second is eventually killed and by that time all three Strong bastards are dead as well. Leaving Aegon the Third (Daemon And Rhaenyra’s kid) on the throne. When he is killed in his thirties fighting in Dorne, the kingship first goes to one of his kids and then the other but apparently none of Aegon the Thirds kids live long or leave successor so the kingship reverts back to their uncle, Viserys the second son of Daemon and Rhaenyra who is by then pretty old. All of subsequent Targ kings are direct descendants of Viserys. So in essence all of the subsequent kings descendants of Daemon and Rhaenyra and and are NOT from one of Alicent’s kids.

Gonna be hard for me to hate on Rhaenyra if that's what they're going to try to do. If my best friend's kid/my half brother did what he did last episode, dragon on his control or not, I'd be psychopathic, too.

I know that Luc's dragon is really young and small, but damn Aemond's was huge. I know that the Blacks have far more dragons, but unless they kill this monster of a dragon soon he will have all their dragons for lunch.
Yes that's the crux of their position. Blacks have more dragons, but Greens have larger dragons. Vhagar (Aemond's dragon) is the oldest largest beast in the world. What I think wasn't clear to non-book readers is, they showed Daemon scouting other dragons on Dragonstone. That dragon that he visited was Vermithor, which was his grandfather's dragon, this dragon is of a relative size to Vhagar.

Thanks for the chart. Seems like Team Black best get to finding riders for Vermithor, Sheepstealer, Silverwing and Seasmoke ASAP.

Yeah, once he saw that dragon parked there, he should have hopped back on and went home. I would have told the guards that I forgot my scroll and left that place double-time.

What I really enjoyed in the final episode is the fact that she was really debating agreeing with the terms from her brother until her son was killed.

Also, isn’t the Kings hand still there at her castle? His ass is getting killed for sure.

It has to be said as well that the scene of her delivering the dead baby by herself standing up is absolutely unreal
