HWC $146,785 Raised! Goal- 100K

$87,690 !!

Mendoza77 is correct.... No arena in plans. Coaches and athletes LOVE Carver.

Many don't realize it..But there is room for this adjacent to Carver. That would be the first choice.Would possibly be able to connect via a tunnel.

are you referring to taking more of the hill out of play by the loading docks?

Gives us all the more reason to obtain a stand
Alone wrestling ‍♀️ venue. Having an event like this on the bye weekend of the FB season, is not productive.

Grapple on the Gridiron proved that.

Go HAWKS. Keep Donating!!!

Awesome. Seems like this is doable. I'm just confused as to which direction the tunnel would be from Carver?

Would think that stamp directly south makes sense? Although the massive plans Luther has is intriguing and would have to quadruple our fund raising efforts! Not sure if there is enough space directly south but would be a nice feature as people enter Carver!

There is room directly south and that area should be a strong consideration. Would be good to connect to Carver. They could upgrade the concourse as part of the build-out.

I get loving Carver for the meets, it is great.

But isn't one of the biggest complaints about parking and access? Putting it adjacent to Carver, absent another garage doesn't seem to address that.

You would most likely just build parking into the new facility plans. First option needs to be ajacent and connected to Carver, which will provide more locker space, warm up areas for tournaments......great place for upcoming Big Ten and or NCAA tournaments.

You will never see another NCAA tourney at CHA unless they do a massive renovation and add in club seats and suites. Only thing NCAA cares about is $$$ nowadays

They have moved them to facilities of the Professional ranks. But people come in from across the country. It isn't a Final Four, or a Frozen Four. Nor is it a double elimination baseball tournament.

People stay from Thursday thru Saturday night. It's a true 3 day event! I don't think having this event at a college campus will happen. Not enough fannies in the seats. Probably not enough hotel rooms, unless in a large city.

Double post.

You should know me well enough by now, that I like the total to be a nice rounded number....so I made this small donation to round up to the next "hundred" (I prefer to make donations that round up to the next thousand!).

Donations have slowed to a trickle, so how about a bunch of us committing to a simple $10 donation every day, or when the spirit moves you? Also, payday is coming up for a lot of us - is there room in the budget for more $50/100/250/500 donations? We need to keep moving this total toward our goal !!! :)

This effort is also having ancillary impact on the future of wrestling. I just purchased the first Wrestling for Life table at the HWC banquet with funds donated to us as a result of posts on this thread. Think of it, your money is going to the Hawkeye Wrestling Club and young wrestlers get to be in the same room with some of the sport's most legendary athletes. I've selected female grapplers in support of HWC athlete Lauren Louive.

I have a good start on a second table and hope to raise enough to add more kids.

In the early stages of this remarkable effort I offered five donors to the HWC a copy of "A Wrestling Life" for gifts of $100 or more. I gave them the option of getting the book or donating it to the nearest middle school library. Yesterday I got a lovely note from Eileen Cramer, the librarian at Lawrence Middle School in Lawrence Township, NJ.

It reads, in part, "Thank you so much for your donation of "A Wrestling Life" by Dan Gable. We do have a lot of students at our school interested in the sport of wrestling. The book will be added to our collection...Again, thank you for your donation to our school's library."

I have had an awesome 24 hours. My wife and I got to meet two GREAT HR posters and their wives for dinner/drinks last night. Had never met any of them before and only recently connected as a result of this thread and the movement that has followed. I can tell you that what started here has made a huge difference and so long as we stay engaged and passionate and continue to offer our time/ideas, we will get the fundraising to where it needs to be. Most importantly, the guys at the very top have taken notice and are incredibly thankful for everything that you/we have done thus far and they have very high hopes that it will continue. I am very excited to be a part of this with all of you.

Randy...do you mind posting your email address once again? I will look for it on this thread as well.

OK, Hawk fans. Money where your mouth is. And hats off to those who have already jumped in with this "tournament challenge"!

New rule (just for f***, of course): For every HWC competition, $1, $5 or $10 per fan, per win by a HWC athlete. If things are tight, $1 per win is great and still adds up. If things aren't so tight, $5 per win is outstanding. If you're really feeling like having some f***, $10 per win. And if you just want to show off, $25 per win and you win the internet for the day. Deal?

Man, this really is getting f***. Far more f*** than anyone associated with Iowa wrestling should be allowed to have.
