IMART vs Nolf

Yeah, not that I wasn't before, but I'm a believer in Nolf now. Very technical and surprisingly the strength to withstand that initial onslaught, freaking amazing.

Then Rasheed almost rolled up Rodrigues for another pin right after

Nolf said to Shane Sparks that Nobody trains harder than him. And it showed, IMar came our very strong, couldn't throw Nolf, and Nolf wore him out.
Great Match.

Rodrguess vs Rasheed now 10-9 W Rod up !

HOW CAN IOWA PULL OFF THE UPSET AGAINST PSU THIS YEAR?!

Good lord PSU has a scary line up. We need plenty of Saturday night guys!!!

Only shocked it was a pin and the lack of fight of IMAR on his back...not surprised Nolf beat him. Higher motor, constant attack. Honestly, I thought Nolf would lose a close one but get him at B1G.

They both dominate offensively and are my two favorite wrestlers this year, so I was curious about how it would go. I thought IMar would win control the match with superior strength.

This is where I was. To be honest now, I don't think IMAR would now even wrestling a more conservative match. Not going to lose faith in the kid, but Nolf is that good.

Penn State has consistently been the best scrambling team in the country since Cael got there. Nolf got his first takedown and the pin off a scramble, while Nickal got both of his takedowns and ultimately the pin from a scramble situation. Neither had crisp takedowns but they just refuse to lose those scrambles

PSU is super conditioned (excepting Altons) all season. Martinez and Brunson were close til they completely ran out of gas. Expect them to be more prepared in March.

IMAR came close to hitting a couple of throws...and almost took him to his back while he was riding, but, Nolf was slick, quick and able to stay out of trouble. IMAR really did seem to wear down quickly. Wonder if some of it was mental when someone was finally taking it to him a bit?

These guys will be fun to watch each time. Can see Nolf getting thrown by IMAR and stuck very easily...but, obviously - Nolf is now the man at 157 until the next time they meet; and who knows...he may stick him again?

I said early in year I think nolf could be their best wrestler and one we don't have an answer to.i think Martinez was done in by his domination over lesser wrestlers, it was like he couldn't believe it when his usual moves didn't work on nolf, good match. have to admit I was pulling for nolf.

Yikes on McCutheon. Looks bad. Ref was right on it as he called time. Default out now for Matt M.

That official was terrible in the Imart match. Imart gassed out and quit, but Nolf is really good. Imart is out of shape but will beat Nolf when it counts.

What's your issue with the ref? I didn't see anything bad that he did during that match.

Maybe...Problem is, Nolf will always be in shape and he did fine in the first period. I have never liked IMar's gas tank...which looks great when he is dominating guys BTW

Imar looked gassed in the first to me. Nolf is too good to beat with a poor tank. Nolf is legit, speed, power and gas tank.

Brunson was in on a go ahead take down and just blew it. I'm sure he is rusty coming off the lay off.

Retherford is the whole package as well.

PSU guys are not afraid to get after it and are in shape. They get a lot of top notch recruits and those guys have become studs. Their few lesser recruits go hard as well even if not as good they are ranked and compete. If not for injury they would have top notch recruits at 125, 141, 149, 157, 174, 197 and 285. Only Conaway, Rasheed and Mcutch are not blue chippers. They get the best and perform like it.

The issues were the questionable escape for Nolf right at the end of the 1st and then the fleeing the mat stall call to make it 5-3. Takes those away and the match is 3-3, the scramble pin situation probably doesn't happen and Martinez chooses down to probably take the lead 4-3. Still, he was so gassed he was going to lose in the 3rd anyway.

I think Nolf was wrestling excellent and probably would have won, but both stalls on IMAR were bad. He was attempting lifts every chance for returns, and did not back out on edge. I also thought the takedown leading to the pin was called too early, which put IMAR into a bad situation instead of attempting to scramble through

Interesting, I thought the escape was the right call. I think the stall call on top was a good call, and I can go 50/50 with the one on the edge.

IMar may very well best him next time. IMar is great. Who knows?
But if that is your only takeaway after watching Nolf pin him, well, your credibility is in serious doubt. Ridiculous.

I watched the replay, in slow motion, it sure doesn't seem like the knee was taken too far any direction. I fully suspect he will be back this season.
