Iowa a 3 seed in the NIT

On a side note, Indiana, Old Miss, and Memphis all have said they'll pass on the NIT if invited.
I've never understood this, personally.

Sure, the NIT isn't the goal, but its still the postseason against decent competition. Its the same as 'bowl prep' and 'bowl game' for the younger guys on football teams that aren't invited to play in NY6 bowls or the playoffs.

What I'm most interested in knowing is if these schools are asking the kids if they're fine with skipping out on the NIT or is the coach/administration making the decision for them.

I think our players would enjoy the Hinkle Field House experience. Too bad no more Madison Square Garden, but maybe easier on fans.

And if Tony decides not to mentally show up at first, sit him for the remainder of the game until he’s right. Period.
I'd be ok with Fran keeping his son and Krikke at the far end of the bench, as well.

After seeing all of those NCAA tournament bubble spots disappear, I now firmly believe Iowa would’ve needed to win the Big Ten tournament to get in, after losing that last home game vs Illinois.

And the path would’ve been there, of course. So I’m now looking forward to the NIT just to see more bball. I just hope the guys are up for it.

Also, I would not be surprised if the NCAA tournament committee makes a statement and penalizes teams with over 300 out-of-conf SOS. More so than usual. That and away game performance, and more predictive metrics emphasis. Some surprises - teams pop up with worse w/l records than other teams thought to be last 4 in.

Side bar, but I wonder if part of the problem is the fact that the NIT is deliberately devalued because they don't want anything to threaten the money machine that is the NCAA Tournament.

Not a fan of the tatts, but would.

Is it really a threat? It’s like the CFP being worried about the Valero Alamo Bowl.

I won't watch. Did not even watch the OSU game. Have to say that this year is by far the smallest sampling of Iowa basketball I have watched. Had enough of the current style of play and coaching. Maybe next year.
Least I have watched, also. Tired of the division and fan finger pointing/bashing. Plus, late games, lack of flow or consistency, no dynamism.....get the fudge off my lawn! They don’t move the needle for me. Shame, Iowa Bball use to be my obsession. My favorite sport.

Almost time to find out. Super excited to see where Fran and son be in the NIT
