125: A. Domination.
133: A. Missed this one, but the result sure sounded good.
141: A. Kid didn't want any part of Carton.
149: A+. Turning the corner on Tsirtsis and getting him figured out. Asserted himself in this one and was taking control at the time of the injury. Hope Jason is OK, but great to see Brandon widen the gap just a little here. Should be very confident against Tsirtsis in future matches.
157: A. Quick fall against a freshman 149-pounder.
165: A-. Solid effort against a weak opponent. Looked much more confident today. Easier said than done, but Rhoads has some skills and a great gas tank. If he can improve his mindset he could be pretty effective against quality opposition.
174: A. Nice work on top. Good to see Alex opening up the offense, but the opponent obviously had a lot to do with that.
184: A. Domination.
197: A. Wish those finishes were a little more crisp, but showed some varied attacks.
285: A. Great to see a pinned at 285. Sam's going to be a lot of fun to watch over the next few years. AA material this year.

Kinda feel like this meet deserves an asterisk, but we'll take it.

A for everyone except Rhoads, who gets a C+ for not wrestling the full 7 minutes and leaving at least 8 points on the mat, if not a pin. A- for Corey who got caught sleeping in the first 30 seconds but redeemed himself.

Overall an outstanding effort.

Mr. Gilman has looked amazing in his 2 matches this weekend, even better than he usually does against subpar opponents. I feel really, really good about his chances in March.

Clark only gets a c. He needs to stop giving up the early takedowns. Sorenson gets an A - he was getting the better of T-shirt and getting a takedown when the injury occurred. No grade for the rest. Beating the Little Blind Sisters of the Poor is ungradeable.

I didn't see the head and arm, did he stick him in it? IMO you can't give him a "C" for a head and arm if they pin the guy in it or get the points. Did we give Matt McD a "C" every time he hit one? He seemed to throw them now and again...didn't he throw a beautiful left handed one at the Midlands one year to stick the NW guy that was pretty tough?
I coach HS Wrestling and hate seeing my guys going to the head and arm as well, but it's hard to "complain" about it if they hit it correctly.

Clark definitely redeemed himself. I was impressed with the way he came back after giving up the TD, losing his previous match, and forfeiting out of Midlands. A lot of winning is mental and he showed his head is straight.

What kind of Grade do we give NW.....incomplete?

Forfeit 141 and throw a 149 with 0-0 record in at 157. Couple of our weakest wts. Only way that could be worse is to forfeit 157 also.

Felt sorry for them. That is not a good thing for D1 Wrestling to have these types of things happen. Not good to see ISU, MN, & NW drop like this. Sad

Some of you have complained that WWWDM! is too easy a grader so here we go:

Gilman gets a C: No illegal slams, punches to the face etc that typifies Iowa Style wrestling. Didn't even go into their huddle and offer to wrestle two guys at once.

Clark: F...gets taken down and just really refuses to dislocate shoulders on his arm bars. Kid is getting to be quite wimpy if you ask me.

Carton: B. Did not aggressively run out out there and push the ref before getting his hand raised...also marked down as he tripped slightly coming off the mat

Sorensen gets a B...He didn't rip off TShirt's arm, run around the mat in a circle triumphantly waving it to the stunned crowd...Ironside would have commented that he would be impressed if it were a leg.

Cooper: C. Why couldn't he do this to Imar? Totally unacceptable.

Rhoads gets an F for letting the guy wrestle a full match.

Meyer: B. He didn't let the guy score the first TD. WTFO?

Brooks: B. I guess his Mother is a professor at Northwestern...He couldn't have even made the guy bleed at least a little bit for Mom?

Burak: C. Because Papabear is not satisfied with just bonus anymore...he wants pins.
