Iowa Offers Class of 2025 Iose Epenesa (pronounced Yo-say)

Don't blame Iose for dragging this one out. He'll probably under the table money from programs like Michigan and Texas just for visiting. But I hope he knows that the Epenesa name is sacred in Iowa City. Coming to play for the smartest defense mind in the nation, along with a school that has sent family members to the NFL, would be the smartest choice.

Repeat the family legacy or make a legacy of his own?

No shit, and the same goes for Mizzou. They are certainly no more "relevant" then Iowa. Closer to home maybe, but not by that much....
Missouri stomped OSU last year in the Cotton bowl, along with pulling in a solid recruiting class in 2024. They are certainly trending upward.

So F------ stupid. Like Iowa is NOT relevant, and U Miami, and Mizzou (his other top choices) are given the last 2 decades? Try harder to troll.....
He is overlooking all the Top 10 finishes, West Championships and New Years Day Bowls. It is what ideologues do, ignore facts in preference of narratives.

OSU had numerous key opt outs, was not the same team that played the regular season.
Do you think recruits look at that? Furthermore, who cares they won the Cotton bowl, pulled a 5* last year, and their transfer class was more than solid. Drinkwitz is an up and coming coach at this point, reminds me of what Kirk did in the early 2000s.

Dude I live in MO. (90 minutes from Columbia), and if your telling me that Mizzou is MORE relevant then Iowa over the last ten to 15 years then I'm saying BS. Yes they are a trending program, but that was not the discussion. Dude said that Iowa was not "relevant" and yet others in his top group are. So I''ll give you Michigan. Oregon is up and down. PSU hasn't done anything really in the last 15 years that Iowa hasn't done. Nobody else on that list has either....

Drink has gone thru about 3 OC's and 4 DC's in his 5 years. Reminds me nothing of Kirk in his early years
The comment was about building from the ground up and hitting massive recruiting wins early in their careers, but since you wanted to go there, how about we.

DC:
Wilks was the DC that left for the 49ers in 2022, Walters chose to leave in 2021 as he was the only hold over from the Odom years. Baker in 2023 left to get absolutely paid by LSU.

OC: 2023 Kirby Moore pulled in from Fresno and given a 2 year extension following 2023, Drink was the primary play caller for his first 3 seasons.

Why do people use the terms 10-15 years to describe relevancy? You sound like a Nebraska fan, although that is probably more 20-25 years. Honestly, recruits go off of paychecks, NFL picks, and recent success. Mopping the floor with tOSU, pulling in 5*'s, and looking at a preseason top 10 rating is going to make them relevant.

And this makes Mizzou, MORE relevant than Iowa HOW exactly? And FYI, thats what the discussion was about, NOT who had been OC or DC.....

Its basically the time these guys have been alive and able to be fans. So Mizzou gets A 5 star pick, and gets a ranking and that automatically MORE relevant?

To recruits? The answer is yes. If recruits actually paid attention to what they should be, Iowa would be pulling in 5* TE recruits every single year.

Does Mizzou have more current players in the league making bank especially defensive players then Iowa? That was the question. Even recent players? Hell we just had a guy drafted in the first round last year who NEVER even started at Iowa because of our depth on the defensive line. And all those guys will be in the league...

That was not the question, you specifically commented about relevancy. If you would like to move the goal posts, Missouri had 6 draft picks in the 2024 NFL draft. Iowa had 4. Which date would you like to pick for draft picks? Darius Robinson was a 1st round DE pick.

Your quote was that he was an up and coming coach. Forgot he was the OC for his first 3 years because he was so bad at it. In all honesty, living here, he was a disaster initially and in some trouble but has pulled in some great recruits and does seem to be turning it around. Mizzou still will not have the stones to play Iowa, which is really too bad

I'd say your also moving the goal posts. So your picking ONE draft and saying thats the end all be all? I also never said Mizzou was not relevant. I sat they're not MORE relevant then iowa which was the posters claim, and what I commented on.

Bro, I am not bouncing all over the place, pick a topic, set a year and stick to it. Relevancy is on a year to year basis, this is not a commentary about being a blue blood. You act as those Eppy would be making a terrible decision by going to Missouri or Miami. Miami is and forever will be a sleeping giant until they find a coach. Missouri is a good program that is extremely relevant not only because they will be top 10, but they play in arguably the best conference in the country, while producing a 1st round DE draft pick last year.

What do you NOT get about MORE relevant? MORE then Iowa. . So you like the poster believe that Mizzou IS relevant, and Iowa is NOT? Thats what he said. Thats what I addressed. Nothing more then that......

Yes, right now to recruits I see Missouri as being more relevant. They are a top ten team coming off of a major bowl win. This next season hopefully with show Iowa to have a functional offense that makes them "relevant yet again."

I'm sorry but I just think its idiotic to say that relevance is a one year thing. That makes zero sense, but maybe its just me.

I cannot even remember when this happened, what 10 years ago? Honestly, they put Kansas State on the schedule. Iowa would be moronic to add another P5 school to their schedule with what the BIG is now.
So you can't remember so its like it didn't happen? In one post you say , jees I wonder why Iowa wouldn't want to play Mizzou, (when its Mizzou who backed out) and then say, "Iowa would be moronic to play MIzzou"

Iowa doesn't want to play Missouri due to Missouri not wanting to cross the color line, google is free. Once again, playing ISU every year is more than enough to add to the schedule. I will once again say it would be MORONIC to add another P5 school to the schedule.
