*****Iowa vs Mich St Game Thread*****

They just said in-studio that Kris Murray didn't even attempt - which is a lie, he was fouled on an attempt - but not 1 attempt in the last 6 minutes.

That's unbelievable. Even if cold, still best player. GO GET THE W!!! Way waaaay tooo passive tonight.
Kris is a really good player, but he isn't like his brother. He isn't the type of player you can build a team around. He is a lot more passive.

I know Ahron isn't exactly known for his 3-pt shooting prowess, but he CAN make 3s. I also know that Sandfort is the team's 3-pt 'specialist'.

But that said, I'm not sure it wouldn't have been better to set it up so that Ulis got that last set play opportunity at the game-winner, considering he was the team's leading scorer and only guy - besides Filip - who showed any real confidence in his offensive game tonight.

Pass was low.

I know it is zero excuse for being wide open, but catching it there and coming all the way up with good form is difficult.

Gotta hit free throws and it wasn't even a possible play, but a good win.

Murray had a really weak game. Think he’ll step it up going into the stretch.

He normally carries the team. This game his 3-ball was way off and MSU guarded him well. Shocking Iowa was in the game on the road after that terrible effort vs OSU.

Very disappointing loss. Kris was purposely pushed around to throw off his game. It worked again. Just not aggressive enough in some games. If you get pushed push back play even harder. winnable game as MS did not shoot or play that well.

Fran is a grand master OOB play coach. That one didn't work out but you always know you're going to get a great opportunity to score OOB.

That's a lot rarer than you think.

As much as I love to go after the refs, especially after losses, there were only two egregious non- or missed calls tonight. (the Perkins from OOB play one & the one where Ulis was hammered on the drive right before the 2nd to last media timeout)

Other than that, its on Iowa that they couldn't hit 3 more FTs and were so cold from the perimeter.

So GD'd frustrating!

It's nice that McCaffery runs a play for Peyton, knowing how ice cold he has become again these past few games, but in that situation (great play) I would have rather anyone else but Sandfort shooting that shot. How is that going to help his confidence going forward?
At this point, I think we can call Sandfort a short streak shooter.

It was a great play call. Great shooters have short memories. Sandfort will be just fine.

I agree he was balling tonight

agreed a physical defense will neutralize KM until he proves otherwise

Tonight's scrum is exactly why we as a conference don't do well when we have to play games that use the rules of basketball.

It does make it a hard shot for sure

Guard(s) 101 you cannot throw a bounce pass below the knees to a big ever for obvious reasons

Not sure you can say someone, this late in the season, shooting under 30% from 3 will be just fine.

And this doesn't even consider his weakness on D.

Who do you want taking that shot?

I can't fault that play call one bit. Going for the win was exactly the thing to do.

Have no problem with the play call. It was a great call. Just not sure I would have one of the worse, statistically, shooters on the team take it.
Problem we have on this team is that we don't have any really good shooters.

I hate saying this, especially since he was one of the only two guys who actually seemed to be trying on the offensive end - but besides the missed FTs, a couple of those missed 'bunnies' by Filip going the other way and we're celebrating a tough hard-fought win in EL right now.
