Iowa Women and ESPN

Watching the selection show; sure would have been nice for a Megan or Iowa women's team mention especially since ESPN tabbed Megan as their POY.
I had to rewind and watch again to see if I was crazy or if I had blacked out. ESPN names Megan POY a few days ago. Iowa's highest seed in how many years? Iowa breaks Maryland's run for B1G title? A possible round of 32 matchup between Bluder (and Jensen) and her former school and team? And not even a syllable.

Megan Gustafson should be regarded as one of the best ambassadors the college women's game has ever had. There is likely someone with a title like "Director, Brand Management, NCAA Women's Athletics" who has regular conference calls with producers of shows such as this selection show, to help advise on who and what gets covered to represent the NCAA and the game in the best light—as well as crisis management. Sad that Megan isn't being spotlighted. She's the fücking Player of the Year, for fück sakes.

But whatever. Win. Advance.

I pretty sure they mentioned them at some point. I was in CHA, and they showed it on the scoreboard. Showed Megan scoring in three different ways.

Really? I have watched it now twice. Not a syllable. They didn't even say the word "Iowa".[/QUOTE
Really. Did you just start watching at 6?
After ESPN leaked the brackets, they started much earlier. I would say the Hawkeyes were around 530.

Yeah. So if you tuned in when you were supposed to, you got nothing. Well, Lobo squeaked her into the last seconds as mentioned above.

Man, things must be great in Hawkeye country, because if you resort to complaining about the Women's Tourney Selection Show, you must not have very much to complain about.
And you must be short of brains and appreciation for some good basketball players.

They mentioned Gustafson during the 4 PM reveal. Can't expect much more from ESPN because we're not a 1 seed and don't generate much buzz nationally, even with a NPOY.

LOL. Aren't you the same schmo who was complaining about some small conference champions taking an NIT bid away from Drake? LOL. You must be one petty, miserable S.O.B.
Nope. My comment, not complaint, was that conference tournaments can keep some better teams in conferences from the NCAA. While I think Drake did well, whether they got in the NIT means nothing to me. I am not a Drake fan, unless they beat a team I want beaten. And I wonder why you come to this thread about women's basketball.

They had a nice discussion of Iowa on ESPN2 with the announcers - ex players and coaches talking about Iowa - Megan and her teammates and how they are a high scoring offense that hits their shots. Then had a video on Megan in her home town. Pretty neat segment with her back in Wisconsin on the tour of a town that’s home to 362 people.

Your first mistake was watching anything on that sh!t network!
You should know by now they have a disdain for anything Iowa. I refuse to watch anything on ES(EC)PN unless absolutely necessary

Perhaps they should note that they are also following in BTN's footsteps in scheduling the women's game to overlap the end time of the men's game. Can't record anything else in that time period on your PVR if you only can record two channels. Wrestling QF needs to be delayed to record later in the morning on that day.
