***Iowa Women Vs Kentucky Game Thread: Round Of 32***

This morning, I was watching BTN’s Big Show and they brought on some woman to talk about the BT Women playing today. She was asked what to watch for in each of the games BT teams were going to play. All she said about this game was to watch Howard for Kentucky. Not a word about Clark, Czinano, or anything regarding Iowa. You would think that the big brains at BTN would tell her that Big Ten fans were the ones that would be watching, and it might be a good idea to mention Big Ten players.

Howard is a player who thinks she's great. She'll be a 2nd round WNBA player or play in Europe. Clark will be a lottery pick in four years.

At least the University of Iowa has *one* basketball team that knows how to get to the Sweet 16.

This offense is fantastic but I didn't think defensive rebounding could get more maddening than watching the men play, I was wrong
This is the first time I've watched the ladies play. Iowa really is horrible at rebounding. Just dreadful.

But hey... live to play another day.

It looks like the SEC women is like Big Ten in the men's tournament. Maybe Big Ten women is like Pac 12 in the men's tournament?

Taiwo has had more time in the weight room. Gabbie just needs to add strength

The BIG is the best WBB in the conference hands down. MD will be in the FF. It wouldn't shock me if the rest of the BIG advances to sweet 16. Rutgers was overrated but still pushed a good BYU team to the limit.

And it took Bluder 15 years to make it to her first Sweet Sixteen
Yes but now she's done it in back to back tournaments. Iowa had a lot of bad luck with the injury bug and players transferring for unknown reasons that likely had little to do with bb. I was down on Bluder this year but she has the team peaking at the right moment. Not having the early tournaments hurt I think.

Iowa could be Very good next year but BIG will be loaded. Still should be a top 3 team in the BIG and top 25 team

I don’t think that’s fair to Fran though. He’s dealt with many of the same problems. That being said, I thought this would be the year he got over the hump

I don't think Fran is a bad coach. But I do think Lisa is very underrated for all she's done. She took over a free falling program and had been a consistent winner for the most part. If she makes another Elite 8 or a Final Four before Caitlyn graduates she will likely be thought of as the best women's BB coach in Iowa history.

Na, that's all still Stringer. 6 BIG championships in 12 seasons. 9 tourney runs and a final four. Bluder has done incredibly well, but not at that level yet.

I agree with you for the most part, although I still think C. Vivian Stringer will always be remembered as the best women’s coach. Just pointing out Fran’s tenure so far has been very similar to Bluder’s first 10 years and he took over a program in much worse shape. Hopefully he can get to the next level

Darn, Michigan beat Tennessee by more points than Iowa did against Kentucky. At least Iowa's deep bench got extended minutes and Wetering scored a couple. Jensen should have just shot the three instead of trying to drive to the basket!

gabby is an excellent 3 pt shooter and pretty good defender, but her driving into the paint has resulted in turnovers lately. She has a good pull up jumper form 10-12 ft, so stop and shoot it.

What are the odds that Fran makes it by year fifteen? I would say not good...Couldn't get there with all time greats so if history is any indicator, they ain't making it anytime soon. Oh and by the way, Bluder has made it 3 of the last 5 years while the men haven't made it once in the last 20+ years.
