******Iowa St vs Iowa Game Thread******

- Extreme lack of rebounding effort, thus a LOT of 2nd chance points for the other team
- Too much over-dribbling into turnovers or lower percentage shots
- Sagging off the 3pt line to double an interior pass, only to watch them kick it right back out and opposition drain the wide open 3
- Forcing stuff stupidly
- Not enough energy to finish the game
- Fran leaving his hands in his pockets instead of calling timeout(s) to try and break the opposition's flow during runs

Same shit, every loss in games like this.

Ready for something different, even if its new ways to lose.

Sandfort is terrible. The most egregious play was when Owen Freeman made an incredible block, the ball bounces directly to turdfort, and he proceeds to immediately throw the worst turnover I've ever seen a senior make. You can't make that kind of a play in that moment as the leader of the team. The 5 misses in a row during crunch time weren't great either. I can barely watch him this year. Pump fake and drive to the basket if you can't knock down an outside shot... or pass the ball. Do something different.

He’s no leader

Meltdown because we left them wide open 3 s we triple teamed them when it was not needed and when they missed we refused to block out men against boys

Fran unwillingness to call a timeout during Iowa State run cost the game.

Sux watching their fans celebrate but ISU is good. Better coach and players.
Might have best 35 minutes since 2015 NCAA tournament game vs Davidson.
Gives a little hope for season.

Fran got out coached again. It’s no surprise. Iowa State doesn’t have a bunch of players that are better than what we have but they are so much better coach.
For the last 14 years Fran has taught his players to double team the ball and for the life of me, the number of times the opposition has drained wide open 3 pointers you would think that Fran and his coaching staff would wise up and stop teaching that style of defense, but no, Fran has got to be the most stubborn coach in the country, and again it cost Iowa a win, plus the lack of rebounding every year. I won't be sad if Fran leaves after this year for sure.

Terrible meltdown at the end. Your offense can't be Dix one on one every possession.

Dix one on one or Sandfort heaving a brick, that was offense.

It's not really a meltdown. When you field a team of inferior athletes like Fran always does, the other team's athletes just turn it on at the end and pull it out. Lipsey getting every loose ball, no muscle or effort to rebound by our guys that don't hit the weight room. Jones and Gilbert for ISU are the real thing. No way Payton Sandfort is NBA player with the season he's put up so far. If he's hurt, play Pryce. I like Payton--quality young man, but you gotta hit baskets if you are a shooter.

You must be kidding. Iowa is a good team...only Auburn "felt" better in Iowa State's games thus far. But ISU has better players than Iowa...wins 8 of 10 times on a neutral court. Jones was just too much tonight...and our bigs with offensive rebounding and inside scoring were just damn good. Iowa couldn't match that. I'm not putting Iowa down...I think you have a tournament team on your hands...but Iowa State is just at another level in talent AND coaching.

I haven’t followed many games - so are Brauns and Mulvey wasted schollies? We really need some muscle to help Freeman….

Until Iowa fixes its priority of and effort at rebounding - which with Fran in charge, it won't - the ceiling will always be hard set at maybe-1-win-in-the-Big-Dance.

I was actually surprised that a lot of Iowa players are better than I would have thought. They aren’t at Iowa State’s level, though, for sure.

Fran is a terrible in-game coach. He’s right about that.

I thought Dayton was better than Iowa personally.
