Is Alabama one of the 4 best teams where they make the Final 4 CFP? Does the B1G get left out?

If Auburn wins SEC Championship, do BOTH Auburn & Alabama make Final 4 CFP?

When you put the 4th best team in a power 5 conf vs the best team in another.....that kind of result will happen a decent amount of the time.
Especially when one's playing across the country and the other across the state.

You're right. I cannot fathom why the B10 agreed to the bowl matchups that they have. It seems to always be a #6 B10 team vs a #3 SEC team or a #4 B10 team vs. a #2 PAC12 team. Was Jim Delany the mastermind behind the tough bowl matchups? You could argue the B10 has had their recruiting hurt quite a bit by those types of bowl matchups and outcomes (losses, sometimes humiliating losses).

Curious To see who’s higher tonight, UGA or Bama? Bulldogs were above them before they lost, and A comparison between their resumes isn’t really any different now besides the point spread at Auburn. Doesn’t really matter, since Georgia would pass them anyway with a win, but it might give a hint at how the committee values The Tide.

Looks like if Auburn and Oho State win on Saturday, Bama has a legit shot of making Final 4

Shoot!!! I am still rooting for OSU to beat Wisky; I would rather have no B1G team in the final 4 over Wisky being there

Yea that makes a whole lot of sense.

Things could get crazy based on what happens on Saturday.

Here, the ESPN guys discuss that the ACC could wind up with two teams in the CFP:

When making my matrix in the other thread I thuoght about that. I assume the scenario has Auburn winning and OU and Wisconsin losing? Clemson’s win over Auburn is really carrying them - though Auburn is playing much better now than they were then.

Clemson sits at #1. What if Miami beats them in OT. They going to drop Clemson all the way out for losing at the end on a neutral field to #7?

Can you imagine? And what if OSU wins and Okla wins. Who's in?

Miami, ACC Champ
Clemson, #1 in previous poll
OSU, B1G Champ
Oklahoma, Big !2 Champ
Auburn or Georgia, SEC champ
Alabama

Most say that an undefeated B1G Champ Wisky makes the Final 4.

But if we are really looking at the 4 best teams in the country, is Wisky one of them?

Tim Tebow says "no." He says Alabama would kill Wisconsin. Max, one of the ESPN guys, agreed with him.

Does he have an SEC bias?

After these conference championship games, it's gong to be really interesting to see what happens. Nobody wants to be #5 in the final college football rankings.

Here is a link to the discussion, where Tebow says that an undefeated Wisconsin should not be in the CFP: www.espn.com/video/clip?id=21630408

Ya if you're looking for the 4 best teams, I find it hard to disagree with Vegas on Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Auburn. (assuming Oklahoma, Clemson, Auburn, and even Wisconsin wins)

Well, 2 tickets are punched:

Oklahoma, Big 12 Champions
Auburn or Georgia, SEC Champions

Two spots open!

Who's in?

Does the outcome of Auburn-Georgia have any bearing on OSU’s chances? Seems they may have a better chance passing Bama if Georgia wins. Wouldn’t Bama maybe move down with Auburn?

If Georgia wins does OSU go over auburn and bama? If not, does 1 loss bama go over 3 loss auburn? It will be interesting.

I think Bama needs Auburn to win so that their one loss (on the road, at Auburn) does not look like a bad loss

Assuming OSU beats Wisky tonight: The committee then can compare OSU (with 2 losses, one bad loss to Iowa) to Bama (one close road loss); who would the committee then choose? OSU or Bama?

I think they choose bama in this scenario. I think OSU needs Georgia to win and beat Wisconsin convincingly. Even then it's going to be tough. Not sure they'd even take them over 2 loss Clemson or Miami.

its crazy because all season long everybody considered Bama the best team in the land; should a close road loss keep them out of the Final 4? I am sure this is what the committee will be debating

No way should bama get in if Auburn wins. How would that make sense? If they are not as good as Auburn, there's no place for them in the cfp. It's not like they lost the first game of the season, it was their last game just a week ago! It would be a travesty for them to get in following a loss without having the 13th game.

USC belongs in before bama. They won their conference, better sos, same number of wins, and we don't know how they'd stack up so something new.

Winning the conference should be the first criteria, and no team should ever get in coming off a loss.

The committee screwed up taling osu over psu last, and taking bama would be another screwup. Just pick from conference champs and be done with it.

Two are in:

SEC Champs, Georgia, 12-1
Big 12 Champs, Oklahoma, 12-1

5 Contenders for the final 2 slots:

#4 Wisconsin, 12-0
#8 Ohio State, 10-2
#7 Miami, 10-1
#1 Clemson, 11-1
#5 Alabama, 11-1

The problem right now for Alabama is if Auburn isn't in the top 4, how can Alabama be in the top 4 when they lost to Auburn in their most recent game?

Tebow in the video a few posts above and the color analyst for tonight's SEC Championship game said that if the committee wants to put the 4 best teams in the CFP, then Bama needs to be in the Final 4

Not sure but one top 25 win doesn't help their case. They're bama though so they have a chance.

Right now it's looking like it's going to be Oklahoma vs Georgia in 1 semifinal, and either a Clemson vs Ohio State rematch from last year or a Clemson vs Alabama rematch from last year in the other semifinal.

I don't think there is any way Bama gets in if OSU wins.
Just lost to Auburn, Auburn just lost, had Auburn beat Georgia I could see it.

Haven't any idea what that committee will do. They put Ohio ST in last year and they didn't even play in the conference championship.

Ohio State is not exactly looking good tonight

Crazy how JT's ints might be the difference tonight as well; if Wisky wins, of course, there is no argument, even though some would still say Bama is better than Wisky
