No it wouldn't.
Who do you think pays players now?Nike and Adidas.
If they were allowed to do this with in the rules they would pick a handful of name brand schools to put all the best players on and they would market the hell out of those few schools.
It would be like a handful of G League teams existing inside college basketball.
The rest of college basketball would be irrelevant and people would eventually stop watching.
Disagree completely. First of all, the shoe companies have contracts with a ton of different schools so wouldn’t have to push them to a handful of schools. Even if they did, is that different than what happens now. Duke and Kentucky in recent years have had 5 of the top 10-15 guys each.
How many guys in each class do you think Nike, Addidas, etc. are going to give big money to? I would guess the top 5-10 guys in basketball at most. Those guys are pretty much all going to be one and done anyway as the NBA will still offer more money. Do you think the 25th guy in the NBA draft is getting big shoe money? Those guys would get decent booster money, better than Nike would give.
The above is even more true for football. George Kittle is a famous NFL player. I have no idea what shoe deal he might have. Outside of a couple college football players, local boosters would pay more than some national company.
