….on a scale of 1 - 10? Been a long term KF supporter in the past, and recently posted Trust in Kirk, but no more. He is making himself look less credible every time now in front of the media, when he gives these “never thought about a QB change” answers. Something smells really weird. Why be all in for Spencer Petras, when it’s painfully obvious on game day he doesn’t cut it for the rest of the team CONSISTENTLY now?

"Looking at things". JFC. Last year Iowa ranked 123rd in total offense. 1 TD vs 10 INTS.

IF it was crappy OL play that's on Ferentz. He recruits. WTF is wrong with this guy? Does he feel so protected by job security he is isn't willing to make decisions for the program?

Maybe do what Nebby did - buyout is halved in the next month if no improvement. Winning the required "7 games" per contract is gonna be tough this year.

I think it's how the benching of Petras will be perceived as an indictment of Brian and Kirk's decision to have Brian assume the QB coaching role. And they would be correct on that. It's been a massive failure so far along with an offense that continues to flatline under their watch.

When Padilla comes in and doesn't light the world on fire after 2 or 3 games, then what? On to the next guy?

Brian doesn't decide who starts at QB. That is Kirk all the way.

I think we are past that, now.

He is going to kill our defense. They are on the field all game after all the 3 and outs. The louder the calls for change the more he will double and triple down. It is about the family business since no one will fire him. He has the most unique position in college football.

Kirk has reverted to Kirk 1.0….stubborn, condescending, and arrogant on being right about his wrong decisions and double, now tripling down on them.

Ahh... I see you are still one of the remaining BF/Kirk supporters when it comes to offense. Just a reminder....

The reality is that the Pelini-Nebraska debacle has scared Iowa fans shitless and made Ferentz an untouchable egomaniac. He has 1 (shared) big ten title and 1 bcs bowl win (against mighty Georgia Tech) in 22 years. The Brad Banks/Dallas Clark year was his chance to win a natty, but he blew it by losing to Iowa State. Banks was not given much experience the prior year and we have yet to start another athletic qb since. He hired his son as coordinator which should've never been allowed. He's almost lost to 3 different fcs schools at home, miraculously winning 2 of them with consecutive blocked field goals and a dropped pick 6. This dude should've been put out to pasture at the end of his last contract. He's not even the best head coach in his own state.

Even if Iowa went undefeated, they weren’t playing Miami for the title, tOSU was locked into that title game ahead of Iowa on name recognition and the polls would of had them ahead of Iowa.

If as you say the hawks are 2-4 after Ohio St and Padilla is below avg then bring in Labas and let him improvise like Tate did. Remember in 2012, Vandeberg was having such a tough year but played all the snaps when Rudock could have been given at least a few series the last 3-4 games.

In fairness, Kirk's stubbornness has been the reason for almost every coaching success he has had at Iowa. His entire coaching philosophy is based on the premise of doing what he thinks is right, regardless of the outside noise.

I'm as frustrated by the way this season has gone so far as anyone (and I am absolutely in favor of a QB change, among other moves). But it's really not surprising to see Kirk dig in like this.

Frustrating? Absolutely. But not surprising.

I would argue it was the Tom Davis situation, not Pelini.

There are still fans that throw out the ridiculous “remember what happened when we ran Tom Davis out of town” B.S.
