Kirk's 5-1 teams and how they turned out. Only the 2002 team won its 7th game. Some crushing close losses down the stretch of the '06, '10, and '14 seasons. Somehow I don't think this team will fall into that.

Please note I'm not including the 2009 and 2015 teams, who were undefeated through 7.

2002 - 11-2 (lost Orange Bowl)
2003 - 10-3 (won Outback Bowl)
2006 - 6-7 (lost 3 games by 3 points or less, including Alamo Bowl)
2010 - 8-5 (lost 4 games by combined 11 points; won Insight Bowl)
2014 - 7-6 (lost to Wisconsin and Nebraska at home by combined 5 points; lost TaxSlayer Bowl)

Those seasons all happened before the new Iowa offensive philosophy of take no prisoners and keep the foot on the gas right down to the last second, even when leading 42-16.

This Iowa team is on a mission, and conservative KF is but a sad, lonely, and distant memory. No more "That's football." As a result, the fun is only beginning.

That 2010 season sticks out for me. A few too many heartbreaking losses. It was almost as if that team was cursed to lose close games.

Most of those aren't good!

I think if we had been rotating the D line like we're seeing now(even if there was a drop off in talent putting in the 2nd string) that we win at least 3 more that season. We gave up a lot of late drives because the D line didn't have anything left in the gas tank that year.

No one will ever convince me that, had 2010 KF had an OC like BF and the aggressive offensive philosophy and the current style of defensive rotations others have mentioned, the Hawkeyes would have been a national title contender. What a waste of talent that season was....

For some reason my lasting memory of the 2010 team was the shot of Adrian Clayborn down on one knee sucking wind at the end of the Northwestern game. Somehow served as an appropriate metaphor for the season.

2010 team had alot of key injuries.
2014 team learned what a joke GDGD was and quit.

So what your saying is that Iowa could have anywhere from 6 to 11 wins. LOL That kind of narrows it down. LOL

It’s posts like these where i am convinced some of you really live in a fantasy world. It’s one thing to compete in the b10 west, another in the b10 in general but an enormous leap to where you are talking. It aint ever happening on this guys watch. The talent level alone is canyon wide. The coaching difference is almost as wide as well
Again... Your post is just another example of how clueless you really are. I'll give you some credit... Maybe you are just a huge hawkeye hater instead. But look at that 2010 team... It was loaded with talent..NFL talent

That is an interesting list. Two great seasons and three seasons that ended with a thud. Fortunately, so far, this season feels a lot more like '03 than '14.

Brian is opening it up slowly . This is not the Hawk offense and decision making we are used to.
