“Honestly when you look back at it, everyone picked us to finish 11th and have four or five wins in the Big Ten. So, to have an undefeated non-conference, 22 wins, it actually baffles me how people can bash us and say all the things they say about us when we had the type of turnaround we did.”

He's talking to a number of people on this board.

More likely Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube.

Nobody but 30+ year old men are even aware message boards exist.

Not sure I like the mentality of this quote. I like kriener. However that quote shows no drive or desire to improve. Kind of reminds me of when players are looking at refs for a call when the play is still live. Not sure if that mentality comes from the coaching staff—-I’d like to see more we’re proud of ourselves and we still have a lot we can improve on.

1. It’s clear these guys don’t have the mental makeup to block out noise..
2. I’m sick of people referencing the improvement over last year because last year was unacceptable with where the program was the year before. Last year should have never happened.

That being said I’m still all in.. That’s about as worked up as I’ll get about this team!

Yeah....a kid who loved the Hawkeyes...wanted to play here in the worst way. A dream come true. They go through a rough year last year and do a hell of a job working and turning things around....and you get the kind of stupidity of some of the fans who post here.

Then he has the audacity to state the truth about something he was actually involved in....that he really knows about, and you get people bashing him...wow....I feel for this kid. These players deserve much better.

Jfc... calm down. I just wish people would give their opinion on the subject of what the OP wrote.

Why say that people suck because of an opinion that they have?

Why name calling players and other fans???

Been said a million times on here....dont like what people write, move on or atleast reply civally...damn..

So I searched the internet and can’t find this quote anywhere.

So, if kriener didn’t say it I feel dumb.

However, I still stand by my analysis of the potentially fake news quote.

So, hes happy with the teams season? Happy with the slump at the end?

I'm sure they aren't happy with the way it ended..

Guess hes speaks for the whole team then...

Satisfied with 10-10 in conference...
The coach is ecstatic with that finish, never mind they lost the last four in a row and were blown out by Michigan in the quarters of the B1G.

Definitely agree with your post.

Although... I'm still not "all in"...maybe 90% in - last couple years have been too frustrating ;) Looking for a great run in the tourney. Go hawks!

That really explains a lot about the team mindset IMO.

To be honest, it's the reason why I started posting more. I'm sick of watching people degrade 18-22 year olds when the have no business doing so. Being a fan doesn't give one the right to trash the players. Be upset with their performance, discuss how things could be changed, but no one should ever disrespect a player the way I'm seeing some posters do on this board.

Christ, I've seen some members here post disrespectful things to each other. One poster, after I asked for an explanation to a one-liner post, said he didnt have the time to respond to such an obvious problem. I get we all have opinions, but it would be nice if some of those opinions can be challenged without all the drama.

Anyway, I'm sure people really dont care what I have to say...but this place needs more balance between opinion and factual discussion.

Why, in hell, would players worry about what fans say about them?

Losing 5 out of their last 6 games before the tourney and he's making a statement like that? Athletes just love the adoration, but many can't accept any criticism. The way you shut the negative Nellies up is win on the court.

Let's see what they're made of next week.

Precisely. Weak freaking sauce!

That’s mind blowing to me that a Power Five player would make that quote, absolutely mind boggling. Any other player from any other team would say something along the lines of “we did better than we were projected, but still upset by the way we finished. We think we’re better than that and are going to work our asses off to do something this tournament”.

Instead we get whining about how they did good enough and everyone is so mean... Another team full of mentally weak players which has become standard for Fran with their late season collapses. Just pathetic. I can’t fathom one of our football players saying this.

Is America raising a generation that base their sole value from social media posts? Posts that may or may not even be from their own fans. It’s really quite sad.

Yeah, I think this team in particular is way too interested in what's being said about them and maybe having themselves a little pity party.

I used to think KFs social media ban was stupid ten years ago. Anymore I'm starting to see the whole thing as a plague on society.

So what he's saying is, if Iowa had inexplicably won their first 22 games and lost the last 11, there should be joy in the fact that they won 8 more games and finished 10-10 in the conference.
Yes the season record improved over last year as it should have, considering the number of players returning and the supposed improvement in how they play defense.
BUT, that is not how the real world works. If this was the first time in Fran's 9 years that losing games at the end of a season had occurred it probably would not have drawn much criticism, but this has happen repeatedly when Fran's team exceed expectations and no one including the coaches or players have a clue why it happens.
If the players are pissed at us fans for our displeasure on how the season finished out, it's because as I've said this is not the first time us fans have been disappointed at what could have been an outstanding season turned BAU under this coaching staff and with entirely different players.
It's becoming a unacceptable trend!

It’s a genius move by Ferentz. Always was and looks better every year as social media continues to grow in usage and importance to society.

They sure do. Some make it their entire lives. Social media can be worse than any drug. For some reason it seems to validate their existence in life. It's a problem we see as educators everyday...all fights, drama, etc. start out online.

I remember plenty of drama when I was a teenager well before social media was even a thought.

Kids haven't changed much despite what people say. If anything they are better.

This Kreiner comes across more mature than most people on here

Yeah but the way their able to communicate makes a lot of difference. Its everywhere. Even if they block social media people are going to be talking about things. It's a lot different than what you and I most likely experienced when we were younger.

What amazes me is that he is right. Anonymous idiots go on the internet and say anything they want about anyone without ramification. It has to be obvious to you idiots that you ARE causing pain to hawkeye players and their families. Does that make you feel better? You are real pieces of work. I hope that you or your kids have the same opportunity to experience such mindless, assinine judgement.

When you royally suck the previous year "they" tend to figure a repeat is about to happen. Its called a prediction.

So once you get off to a good start and rise above expectations when the new year is upon us, how about you play it out the entire year, instead of implode, again.

That's why people get pissed Mr. Kreiner. Aside from the trend of late season collapses of Other teams that theoretically overperformed prior to the meltdown. Or as some might call it now, the inevitable meltdown.

Don't care who says what... the whole point is if you have to rely on how shitty you were last year to feel good about how this season played out, you have alot of growing to do as a program.

Can we, you know, see how the tournament actually goes before getting all ****ing depressed???

BS, Kreiner is exactly right. Of course the team wants to continue to improve, and they did accomplish a hell of a turnaround this year. Go Hawks !

It's not any different than your wife and boss still putting up with you. They have settled for a loser for many years and now there okay with it....:p

Unfortunately it’s not how you start but how you finish which is why fans see this season as a disappointment. Prove us wrong and get to the sweet 16 or stay content with this “big” turnaround

True, College basketball teams are judged by their tournament success. The odds of at team making the Sweet 16 with an AdjD of 100+ is about 4%. Couple that with a likely 8/9 seed and, well, my abacus is unable to calculate those percentages.
