Or Riggins developed a lot more in the Iowa room than Naak has in their room.
I guess I'm in the minority, but Naak has never impressed me in high school, because all the studs in that weight range play football.
I guess we'll see in the next 2-3 years.
Back when Iowa got Riggins and ISU got Gaitan, Clone fans convinced themselves it worked out great for them.
Looks like neither is much of an AA threat right now.
The word is Dresser offered Ech big $$$ to go 141 and he said NFW.
Then Swiddy says "Pay me". And then this injury.
If I had to guess...I'm going with your "other option".
Could be a real struggle for them to come close to last season's results at Nattys.
Creates a log jam next year at 149/157 because being inactive for a year is gonna make it nearly impossible for Swiddy to even think about 141.
They weren’t going to repeat last year anyway. Too many points walked out the door when Carr graduated. They don’t have the horses to make it up. Plus other teams are better than last year. Iowa for one.
No one better interpret this post as me sticking up for ISU, but you don't think Bastida/Johnson/Bockman, none of whom AAd last season, couldn't make up the points Carr contributed?
LOL, with Swiddy back they could have scored just as many this year.
I will agree they weren't finishing top 4. But they had potential to score as many points.
Everyone would have to do at least as good as last year and they would need to have guys step up and score several more points. That's a house of cards when talking about so many guys on the AA fringe. Possible, yes. Likely...no.
Boeckman isn't much of a factor. He scored a whole 1 point last year while the guy he's replaced scored 4.5 (and didn't AA after doing so the year before at his prior school).
The important thing is ISU returning to "suck mode".
I can envision Swiddy and Chittum never wrestling another match in Ames.
They have too much talent to go back to sucking anytime soon. They will be solid to fairly good for years to come. I’m comfortable with them in that space.
- Terukina vs Peterson at 25 — ISU edge at this point
- I think Frost could be favored at this point at 33
- Redding vs Block at 41 is a toss up
- Echemedia should be favored at 49
- Batista should be favored at Hwt
Why should Ech be favored over Parco?
I think we see Meza at 125. Also I don't see Ech being favored over a returning 4 time AA at the weight.
I haven't seen anything out of Ayala at 133 that makes him a favorite.

He looked like crap before the injury and was hurting pretty good after. Teemer would wreck him. They are likely to put Naak out there who Teemer will also wreck.
I know it was Bellarmine guy but Teemer looks like he is going to wreck a lot of guys this year. He is going to be fired up for the full to capacity rowdy crowd Saturday night.
I hope he comes out fired up. Most matches he seems so business as usual type of approach. He needs to get a couple of takedowns before the third, it will be nerve racking if he and frost are rolling around for the win at the end.
I concur. I wasn’t happy with how he wrestled the kid from Bellarmine though must say the Bellarmine kid came to fight.
Hear me out on my prediction that ISU could lose the first nine matches...
Firstly, I think we agree Iowa will be decided favorites at 157/165/174/184/197.
So...
125..If it's Terukina, Many ISU insiders think he's lazy and not committed to training. If it's Meza, his first match in a very hostile environment. I got Peterson.
133...While Drake was less than impressive in the first two duals, he's too good to continue that slump. I got DA.
141...If Frost, Block has beaten him before. If Redding...Valencia pinned him in their dual, Block lost by dec. I got Block.
149...Parco has been tearing people apart and even if it's viewed as a tossup, it's in Carver. I got Parco.
That's a shutout going to Hwt. Bastida hasn't wrestled yet and might not have his lungs...BK can gas him.

BTW ..Plus, we can ALWAYS count on Dresser and Co. to fvck something up in this dual!
2022...send out freshman Gaitan to wrestle NB rather than his regular starter Broderson...Result, NB major decision in a dual Iowa won by 3 points.
2023...Gaitan wrestling PK and the Clone staff forgets college wrestling has a riding time rule!!!

Increase the pace of attacks, crisp finishes, and don't leave your legs open. Easy to say. But for Ayala it's the difference between finals and R12.
