looking good TCU

Kansas has already beaten TCU. The Horned Frogs just don't know it yet.

TCU is entering this weekend off a loss, and they get to take out their frustrations on lowly Kansas in Ft. Worth. A realistic score would be 77-3. But here's the thing: no matter how bad TCU pummels the Jayhawks on the field, KU is probably about to deliver a death blow to TCU's hopes of getting back into the playoff, or even just a NY6 bowl.

OSU gets to play ISU, in Ames (a grudge match against a semi-competent team with a great home field advantage that people actually want to watch), and has the chance for signature wins against OU and Baylor. OU gets the toughest schedule with chances for signature wins against OSU, Baylor, and TCU. Two of which are on the road. Baylor gets to get signature wins against OSU, OU, and Texas (who have great name recognition, and count as a decent win even if they're just average this year). All of these teams kicked our asses weeks ago, when no one was really watching.

Everyone else gets there chances for a signature win that could put them over the top and into real playoff contention. But not TCU. Their season is pretty much over. Because Kansas exists. And we exist purely to destroy your season. Not only do the other 3 top teams in the Big 12 get more chances for marquee wins, pretty much every team above them does too because they don't have to play Kansas. Beating Kansas at home almost counts against you at this point. You'd be better off facing a bye week. A quality loss to Ole Miss legitimately counts more than beating us. And because of that, we just ****ed your entire season. You would have to shut out both OU and Baylor to get over the damage we're about to do to your SOS. And what's worse? The worse you beat us, the worse we look. And the more damage it does to you. We are toxic. You may drink our milkshake, but we're the cyanide cherry on top, just waiting for you to take a bite.

So now you get to compete against the other 1-loss teams for that shot for a bowl game after New Years. The Stanfords, the LSUs, the Notre Dames. All of which don't have to play us. All of which get more chances to impress the CFP committee, and I can guarantee you everyone else will. And you get to add a blowout win against a winless team that got their asses kicked by Iowa State to your already uninspiring resume.

So enjoy the Russell Athletic Bowl, Horned Frogs. And have fun pounding us into the ground on Saturday!

It's funny because it's true

Clones could gain us some huge respect today. Hope they at least hang tough.
are you saying a clone win would gain the hawkeyes respect? The football program is in worse shape than i thought if Iowa State getting their 4th win on the season gains the hawkeyes any respect.

I believe so yes. An upset over the #8 team in the country…

Would be huge for Iowa regarding the playoffs as well as strength of schedule. As far as respect goes, I believe an ISU win should help that at least a little bit. As well as Pitt dominating Duke today…

….however an ISU win is probably pretty dim.

they only thing an ISU win is going to do is crush the playoff aspirations of Oklahoma State. Granted I would love to see how the talking heads spin that....especially if they try to spin it as not a bad loss for OSU, but its not a good win for Iowa...but it will not really have any affect as far as how anybody sees Iowa

I know ISU is pretty rough this year but I think they are better than people give them credit. As far as them on Iowa's schedule, I don't think it should be labeled as a "cream puff" if you will. Bad record but quite a few of those losses came to top 25 teams…

Only scrub I give talking heads credit for calling a cream puff is North Texas.

I think the only way whatever Iowa State does on the field this year helps Iowa is if they go on a run and get to bowl eligibility these last few weeks. The only question now after seeing that TD catch reversed, will the Big 12 allow the clones to win this game?

the only thing it wouldve done is take okie state out of the playoff picture. If Iowa State won last night, nobody is going to say Iowa's resume is better than it currently is.
Okay, and yet people have been comparing our win over Northwestern and Stanford's loss throughout the season, but sure nobody would talk about how Iowa beat ISU in Ames while Ok State lost (in that hypothetical scenario)....and the committee will absolutely weigh yesterday's game against the Cowboys when comparing Iowa to Oklahoma State, if both keep winning.

Come on now....

yes of course the committee would weigh yesterdays game, and it would be a knock on Okie State had they lost (not a validation for Iowa)....Look at the original comment i quoted. It said "Clones could gain us some huge respect today". Now way would them winning last night have gained Iowa any more respect or credibility than they had before the kickoff.

If the comments and arguments are framed about the path to the playoffs being cleared just a little bit for iowa, of course I would agree with that but there seems to be an overwhelming opinion in the threads from last nights cyclone game and even this thread that Iowa State winning was going to make Iowa look better.. We can agree to disagree, but I still don't think Iowa State winning last nights game would have done a thing to gain Iowa respect or give them an argument for their matchup being a quality win. (maybe I am reading too much into the meanings of the comments too)
