Nothing is left out there in a lot of areas so interesting to see how you make something 100x worse. It will be interesting to see how people vote moving forward bases upon this fire, the investigation into the failures, and how they fix the problems so they have a better plan in place to try and minimize loses when something like this happens in the future, because it will to some degree.
Heard from my sister tonight, her SIL is in studio city. They evacuated twice and the second time they stayed with a friend at his fire station. He was the guy making that great water dump from his helicopter all over tv the past couple of days.
If only someone would have told them where the next catastrophic wildfire would be - someone should have asked all these maga geniuses as clearly they know.
Please one of you guys who has got the dry hydrant thing all figured out call Newsom and have him call off his investigation into the failure. Save the taxpayers the expense.

I believe most of the info we've got so far is from the fire department and people that are a involved in the process of fighting the fires... Who would have an idea of how things work.
We've correctly dispelled the initial (stupid) rumors that there wasn't water in the reservoirs because they cared more about smelt fish.

You are a great deflector…I’ll give you that.Your point? We don't have 1:1 ratios between water tanks and hydrants. Many hydrants to one tank. They could've been dry because the tank was losing pressure due to other fire fighting efforts.
City officials came out and said there was a problem with keeping the tanks replenished. (hence dry hydrants)
It looks like an infrastructure problem for the dry hydrants. I'm sure it has been a big risk for decades. Probably because A) they hadn't had the worst-case-scenario we're seeing now, B) it would be extremely costly to do, C) it would be extremely time consuming and potentially disruptive to city life.
Basically all the same reasons an old bridge is left in place. (until it starts falling apart)
Fire breaks would have had limited effect in this scenario give you had extreme winds raining down embers on houses near the ocean from the hills 100s of feet above them.
They do clear brush and have ordinances surrounding this issue. What evidence do we have that this was a big issue?
But this is what you were dealing with. (see below) Clearing the hills of brush was not a feasible thing to do. LA made a mistake when they allowed people to move out into the hills.
