Has Iowa in his final 3 per Ia Wrestle. Defending state champ and undefeated at 145. Any more info on him? Could he be a 149/157 target after a RS year?

Has yet to give up an offensive point this season. Seems like a good kid with a great attitude. I'd love to see him in the Iowa room, although we'll be pretty stacked in the middle weights.

If Kemerer goes 157, we don't have anyone on the team or coming in that I feel is a done deal stud for 149 so I'd be happy to get him. We could use some love at 184/197 too though.

Luke Troy is s stud - not sure if he can make 149 - wrestles 152 as a JR .

We could use some love at 184/197 too though.

Max Lyon, Epworth/Western Dubuque. JR at 182#
undefeated this year 42-0 with 35 pins, finalist last year, lost to Isaiah Patton (UNI) in OT
5th place freshman year

That might be his plan, but what if Kemerer can't hold 149 and moves to 157 and he can't beat Kemerer at 157? Is he going to go up to challenge Marinelli/Young or move down to 149.... Maybe 149 won't even be an option for Luke 2 years from now also...

Lots of depth never hurt anyone. See Okie St at 157. Mar stellar, Blees and Jo Jo. All three very high rated recruits which has the appearance of a log jam, but it seems to have worked its way out one way or the other. The more tough kids who want in the merrier I say!

He isn't ranked but he did beat a couple of good kids in his pool at the KC Stampede this year. He beat Beau Guffey and Bret Heil. Both of whom have had some national accomplishments. He hasn't really faced any top flight national guys.

Iowa State? How can he say Iowa State? What is KJ's recruiting line - "please come to ISU, help me keep my job."

Sure, I can't say he won't change his mind, but when he committed he pretty much said: I was going to have to beat Kemerer, Young, St. John, (whoever is at 157 when he gets to Iowa) whether I was at Iowa State, Wisconsin, or wherever, but I wanted to go to Iowa.

That's just a summation, not exact quote, but his mentality is I am going to beat whoever is in Iowa's room or it doesn't matter. He said 157 when I talked with him, so I assume that is where he see his body being growth-wise by then. It's obviously wait and see, but he wants to go 157.

FWIW, I know he lost close to Kaid Brock last year, and he's a MUCH better wrestler this year than he was last. He'd be a great pick up in my opinion. Lots of potential!

Then he's a backup. Pretty simple. Depth is a good thing.

It will all work itself out in 32 months!

I thought we had all agreed that Kemerer was to go to 157 and needed to start bulking up as soon as possible. Did he and Brands not get Our memo?

Please have our Board Secretary (SPOONER) draft and release the appropriate letter ASAP.

On behalf of Board President WWDM and VP AZChief I apologize to all members for this slight mishap which should be corrected shortly.

Yours truly,

Kwoodhawk (Board Witch Doctor)

He's a pretty short stocky kid, unless he grows some more I don't know that he has the height to move up too far.

It might work. Some kids want to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

Speaking of that, why is Gannon Gremmel going to ISU? He is way too good wash that talent away at ISU.

IMO, fit is about style and personality much more than it is talent. My suggestion that it isn't a good fit is not meant to put down the university or the athlete. I just think he would fit better somewhere else. I bet TnT would agree with me that not everyone "fits" the Iowa wrestling program.

Does he fit with ISU? I would say more so than Iowa. Not that ISU is a better program than UI but that it may fit him better. More student athletes should choose their school more on personal fit than money, best wrestling program, and what others outside his circle think. In the end it is much more about the quality of your experience and what is/was important to you than if you went to the best wrestling school.

Just my 2 cents.

Is this just a fancy way of saying Zachary doesn't enjoy country music and squirrel hunting?

You certainly don't have to be a hunter or a country music fan to fit in at Iowa. Let's not go perpetuating stereotypes that could be detrimental to the program.

If you're willing to work hard to achieve your goals, keep your nose clean, allow your coaches to help you put their knowledge and passion into action, and be a solid teammate to your fellow Hawkeyes, you'll fit in just fine at Iowa.

The beauty about our coaches is they are honest with recruits. Lets let the young man make his recruiting visits and choose the school that he feels most comfortable with. A lot of coaches out there tell kids whatever they want to hear. Our starting line up is a prime example of different personalities thriving. Out of the 10 guys I see 2 physicians, some coaches, 1 or 2 entrepreneurs, a drag racer, and 1 or 2 hunters with regular blue collar jobs.

I would not expect an ISU guy to feel a recruit is a good fit for Iowa. ;-)

Exactly, look at Clark, he listens to rap music and plays Video games, and he gets along just fine with his teammates and coaches because of all of those things you mentioned WWDM. He's also extremely well spoken. Clark is one of my favorites if you couldn't tell.

Hey, this country was founded on squirrel hunting. It in no way would be detrimental to any program. It is great exercise and a lot of fun (especially if done with a fine little dog such as curs and feists). Besides that, squirrels are 100% protein. You squirrel hunting haters best step off that train!
