Great showing for Abe and a good look at where he needs to improve. Good handfightng. Good defense. Some nice attacks. Finishes aren't quite there yet and he needs some work on bottom. 184 of the future.
I like Assad. He really needs this year to redshirt to work on getting stronger with his finishes

Assad did get pretty dang close to one but was just a little ways off. To make it seem like he was never in it is disingenuous.
On the scoring record it is probably important to note how weak Midlands has gotten. I am sure better teams from Iowa have gone to this tournament, not to take away from breaking the record though, that is still cool.

Nice work by Assad he is going to be a contender next season. His progress has been awesome thus far.
you heard very, very wrong. Crafty fifth year guy scrambled out of multiple attacks from the true Frosh and squeaked it out.

What? He had several nice shots and got caught in scrambles and couldn't finish, and actually gave up the only takedown because he got outmaneuvered by a veteran. He really looked pretty good I thought. Stayed active, just couldn't finish, although he came very close and they threw the brick, but they didn't review it for whatever the reason. He didn't win but he wrestled ok I think.

I honestly can't fathom not taking a single shot in a wrestling match. I wrestled thousands of matches in my life granted none at the D1 level, but I don't think there's been a single match where I didn't take a shot lol. wtf is wrong with some of these guys.
Warner looked like he was ready to be done with this tournament unfortunately. Really didn't have much in that match despite his opponent looking completely gassed

Assad is the future at 184, but Wilcke earned the starting spot here...finished well.
Quietly had a pretty solid tournament. Lost one scramble against Sebastian and was solid every other match.
Lujan did score. He's a counter wrestler. He put himself in good positions and capitalized.
