60-0? LOL! Like you, I'm sure it'll be a slaughter, but I just don't see it getting that ugly. For instance, I see Alex Meyer winning 3-1, and will be very surprised to see BS pin his opponent. He's an animal on defense, and like most, I think he'll be in the NCAA finals, but he's not an offensive machine. I'm going with 54-0...

60-0 was a joke. It'll be a shutout if Iowa wrestles it's 10 starters, but I'm curious what the purpose of this dual is? There has to be a legitimate reason they're traveling all the way to Montana for this cupcake event, right?

I hope a lot of the backups get the nod. anyone making the trip to 'tana?

I doubt we see backups in the final scheduled dual of the season. The only thing remaining between MSN and B1Gs is the National Duals matchup. The lineup is set and the Hawks need mat time to continue to hone their skills to peak at nationals.

I think its something along the lines of what Minnesota did for christmas last year with their trip to Hawaii, just have some competition with a pulse and a nice little weekend getaway for the hawks probably go do some sightseeing, stay healthy in mind and body going into B1G's.

I wonder if I could hitch a ride on their charter, go skiing for the day and get back in time for the dual at night.

This is Brands helping to try and grow the sport. Taking a top team to areas that don't get to see them very often. Helps the local team draw some crowds and interest in their hometown team. It's a pretty big deal for some of these smaller operations. Kind of like the NY Yankees coming to Des Moines to play the local team. Think that might fill up the stands?

Yes it is. Big Sky is amazing. Went Skiing there last year this time and went fly fishing in the same day. AWESOME!

This dual is a waste of time and resources. We could at least dual Grandview. They are way better and we could pack a venue in Des Moines and actally see a great BG vs Long match. Take a vacation off season. I hope we aren't going to treat MSG as a vacation.

I look at it this way. It's a mini vacation in the middle of the season and if they fly into Kalispell, they will be dang close to the mountains with an awesome view.

Anyone know if Kalispell has a ski resort as that is closer to Havre than Big Sky.

One of the criticisms of Iowa the past few years (fair or not) is that Brands has had the team peaking too early and the team has looked tired and beat up by the time Bigs and Nationals rolls around. Maybe this is a chance to keep the guys fresh, but still get them some competition late in the season.

Good point. I just think this year the competition has been way down. Conference schedule was bad this year and Midlands had too many no shows. I like the wind down and rest a bit theory, but I'm afraid we didn't get enough grind to rest up from. I wish we would add Vegas early in the year. Cheap flights and motels plus a fun city. Hawks would bring a great crowd which would liven up a high competition tournament. Plus with Iowa there it would surpass the scuffle and Midlands for quality. Also help sort out seeds with some non conference teams.

I remember in an interview from several years ago when Iowa went out West to, I think it was Utah, Brands talking about his reasons for doing it. As I said in a previous post, he wanted to give back to the sport, support the local team they were to wrestle and their local fans. I am sure he stated other reasons also...I just can't remember it all. Brands seems to be sincere about caring for the fans. He knows.....no fans no ticket sales. I think this is why they've gone out East also. Last year they went to Chattanooga. 2013-14 it was Buffalo.

I hope you aren't too upset that Brands really believes in doing this sort of thing. He obviously doesn't think it's a waste of time or money or he would stop doing it in an instant. He could make a phone call tonight and the meet wouldn't happen.

Think about it a moment. Montana State -Northern? REALLY?

I'm not sure I have ever heard of them. Can you think of any valid reason to wrestle them that makes any common sense? Recruiting? Cash flow? Lost a bet?

There's something more than what you have considered I'm guessing. Then, of course, you could be smarter than Brands. Not for me to judge.

Part of the reason for going to Utah Valley State was also a tip of the cap to the Lofthouse boys, too, as I recall.

You have the Zadick brothers' Montana ties, but going to Montana these days isn't much good in that regard, as neither one is there anymore.

Havre is in the middle of Nowhere Bumfuk.

If the Brands wanted a nice weekend getaway, they would have chosen Bozeman or Missoula or Kalispel. I guess he can't read a map. It's a giant state.

This dual is a waste of everyone's time.

You act like someone owes you the rent money...This will be the second time the Hawks have went there and this is where Terry got his coaching start. I would have preferred a trip to Cali but only in wrestling will you get a legendary program show up to a small college in Montana.

Montana is the most amazing state in the Lower 48. But it's a legitimate land of openness & wildness. With weather.

It's funny to watch the flatlanders think they can scoot from Kalispel to Havre with a ski trip in between. You act like you're heading to the strip mall for an errand.

C'mon man. Look at the big picture here. All we should care about is where we are going to go skiing or fly fishing. Not the support and promotion of the sport. Amirite!

It's funny how offended you are by us "flatlanders". I think you have mistaken this forum for HROT.

Calm the f down. It's not like I'm really going to go to Montana next weekend. What brand on tampons do you use by the way?

Basically, yes. Besides you flatlanders would probably fall off the ski chair or fall out of the drift boat. Or not buy enough beer. It's all good.

Careful buddy, you were really close to hurting my feelings. Why don't you put the bottle down and sign off for the night?

Would you feel better if I deleted my post about driving from Kalispell to Havre in 4 1/2 hours because you seem really offended by that.

Ski chair? Do you mean chairlift?

Ski chair. Chair lift. Same thing.
Best way is to skin up the mountain.
You guys are too soft for Montana.
Too soft.
