Montana State Northern

Iowa had the highest RPI across the board last year. I bet their guys are right up there again this year at the top. The Iowa has a weak schedule rant is overplayed and holds no validity. Everyone knows Iowa will be at Midlands. They wrestled the #4,#11,#12,#14,#16,#18,#23,#24 teams this year as of now. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/wrestling/d1
They will add another top 10 at the duals.

They have earned the right to schedule this dual. If Brand's wants to snub UNI and MIZZU, he has a reason.

Maybe they wanted a team building trip where they could break up the monotony of the season right before their big post season push.

Frankly I like that they are not grinding it all the way into the B1G tournament.

Very well written;concise, and to the point. I agree with much of what you say for last season. Minnesota was much stronger, Mizzu was good, Cornell,tOSU,PSU, the Pokes. It was somewhat of a murderous dual season. This year not so much, and it was clear when the schedule came out it wouldn't be. My wife even commented on the "piss poor schedule". Midlands being down didn't help either. You argued well and I have considered your input both useful and informative. What is the RPI at this time?

Thanks for the link. The article really explains a lot.

Barnstorming around the country to promote the sport is nothing new for Iowa. The Hawkeyes have gone to Edinboro (2013), Buffalo (2012), Tennessee-Chattanooga (2012), Bucknell (2009), and Boise State (2008) since Brands took over as head coach in 2006.

"We look to get out and promote and we haven't been out west (in a few years)," Brands said. "There are two programs out there -- the University of Great Falls and Montana State-Northern. (Associate head coach) Terry (Brands) used to work out there. Terry coached (Montana State-Northern head coach) Terry Thivierge. It comes together, it's relationships."

Brands hinted that there may be an ulterior motive for the visit. "When Terry was coaching at the USOTC, he was called out to the Academy. He was summoned to a meeting with Air Force Officer. The AF Officer was a big Hawk fan and he told Terry it was very important that when he was an Associate Head Coach at Iowa in 2016, he had to schedule a dual in Harve, MT. It was weird. And the guy drove a DeLorean, so anyway, it was weird but we scheduled the dual."

60-0 was a joke. It'll be a shutout if Iowa wrestles it's 10 starters, but I'm curious what the purpose of this dual is? There has to be a legitimate reason they're traveling all the way to Montana for this cupcake event, right?
Early tuneup for next fall's Iowa Duals.

My guess is that they will fly in and out of Great Falls. I lived in Great Falls for a couple of years and drove up and back to Havre on business. My only suggestion is don't try and take a short cut. I read my map and took a road to shorten my way back and found myself on a dirt road and stopping for cattle so they could cross the road. Grazing cattle in the open range is a lot different from fenced in cattle that we see in Iowa.
