Nate Jesuroga?

It’s his life and his decision but I have no doubts he will have regrets one day.

Best of luck in the military, NJ.

So as a Hawkeye fan there is of coarse a bit of disappointment losing a top recruit, but these young men have to follow their heart and their gut.
I wish Nate the best of luck and hope he serves our country proud! I for one feel better knowing there will be another wrestler protecting our great nation and will have his back just as much or more than if he was a HAWK. GO USA

So you are saying all ex Iowa wrestlers are left with with battered body that means they cannot be a seal? I hope you are joking. Maybe you should ask Ken Leur or Steve Banach about that. I believe wrestling is a great preparation for being in the special forces.
No one can say "all" wrestlers leave with ta battered and beaten body, but many of them work thru and have injuries throughout their careers at the D1 level and especially on a team that trains as hard as the Hawks. When and where the arthritis and joint pains will set in and to what degree vary with each person.
I have no idea what went into his decision, and he doesn't seem too interested in coming to this board and telling us. I am only saying that if he wants to take his healthiest body into a navy seal program, taking a detour thru 5 years of being a Hawk is probably best approach.
You make a good point though. The mental toughness that you have to develop and hone to be a Hawk is a great advantage and preparation for being a Seal (from what I understand and hear - I am not claiming to have any first hand knowledge).
I wish I could meet Ken Leur and Steve Banach and show my appreciation and admiration for what they have given and done.
