NCAA Championship Thread : Session III

Guys, Andonian GASSED in the 1st period. They threw that brick as much for a breather at the end of the 1st as anything. Haines didn't break him, Andonian flat out ran out of gas. It may have actually been even worse than A. Alton or Grajales that match a while back...

You guys are HILARIOUS. Lee shouldn't pick bottom up 10-0, going into the 2nd, but RBY just picked bottom against Nagao in the third period, tied 0-0, after getting ridden out at B1G's.

Just stick to being a fan...

Well, Spencer wanted to go Neutral. So I guess he's stupid, as well.

Choosing down is often not the best strategic choice. Lee should not have chosen down against Mueller. He should not have chosen down this morning. You don't have to be a wrestling expert to understand this - just knowledgeable of the sport and willing to open your mind to strategic thinking.

Andonian ran out of gas because Haines broke him. That’s kinda how it works.

When I hit a deer with my car, the deer didn’t kill itself. My car killed it.

Iowa is so far behind PSU it’s kind of a joke at this point. Every close match is won by PSU and Iowa loses all of theirs.

Penn state now has two guys who were pinned and done, that are now in the semis. At least we can enjoy Spencer a few more times.

If he needed to score to win at that point, I would definitely agree. But, AGAIN, he was up 10-0 going into the 2nd period. Down is the percentage play for Lee in that situation EVERY time. Like I said, if the choice was in the 3rd, that may change things. But, it was the right call there.

Also, everyone's 20/20 AFTERWARDS. He still won 14-4. Making mountains over mole hills here fellas. Just looking to bitch for the sake of bitching...

Haines was pinned and you know it lol.

It’s wild the best team constantly gets bailed time after time by the officials. It’s not like they need it, which makes the whole thing even stranger.

guys, there's a reason these guys keep melting against PSU. they can f*cking score points. you don't break people by hanging on their head. you break them by scoring.
Few guys can break ppl these days using the hanging on head and pressure until the 3rd. Today you gotta always be looking to score

Sometimes that is true. But, NOT in Andonian's case. He broke himself going for the fall. He was DONE with the score 6-1...

We don’t, that’s the thing. Haines was very close to being pinned, absolutely. Gave me a scare for sure.

Otherwise, as I pointed out with the blatant Warner no-pin call a couple years ago, we all catch breaks.

Turns out, though, the harder (and smarter) you work, the luckier you get.

you are 100% wrong. he takes neutral or top that's a shutout tech. auto down is like punting on 4th and 2 from the opponents 45. outdated and wrong.

Dude, did you even WATCH??? They threw the brick because he was DONE when they were hoping it was 8-1. He didn't move a lick after that. Hell, he couldn't even sprawl in the 2nd. Make no mistake, Haines deserved the win, but Andonian was out of it in the FIRST period...

Lol, how many times does he not turn guys once the match gets deep into the 2nd or later? You act like it was some foregone conclusion he gets that takedown and turn...
