NCAA in jeopardy now, need probably 2 more...

Mark my words we are limping in at best considering remaining schedule and personnel left to play. OSU IS A MUST WIN.

A must win means if you lose you are out of contention.

Iowa needs 2 maybe 3 more wins with a minimum of 7 games left.

Osu doesn't fit the definition of must win.

If CJ is hurt for the rest of the year, I am pretty damn sure this team goes out early in both the B1G and NCAA. I realize that won't be a popular opinion with the "super fans" here, but Fran can't / won't emphasize defense and the team is realistically down to only two options offensively. Most opponents have figured out that you can let Garza score 40 and you just play tight on Joe W. You don't really need to even guard JT or Connor.

We're unfortunately to the point where "next year" is the story, yet again. Always seems to be "next year" with this coach.

Sad to disAgree. No defense and not enough players vs great competition equals 1 or no wins and into nit.

You do realize this is the exact same team that we've had all season, right? Nobody was complaining about the lack of players and defense against the competition like a month ago when we were rolling.

It's possible we might be down a CJF again, and Pemsl was doing his thing this game, but nothing has changed. Everyone plays for their life to protect their home court at this point in the season. I'm not sure why all of a sudden people think the sky is falling but if that's what helps everyone enjoy their days, by focusing on the negatives, more power to you

I'm curious, what were your expectations for this season before the season started? Meaning, what would have made this season a "success" back in December? I'm not saying this to be confrontational but I'm pretty sure nobody expected us to be where we are at the moment and expectations seem to have shifted to a Sweet 16 or something at some point.

We'll revisit this topic Sunday at 2:30 pm. I am hopeful I can nod my head and say I "overreacted" a L on Sunday in a winnable road game, OSU game Thursday becomes bigger, last I checked @ MSU after that so yea.......

Sunday won't change anything.

We already know it's most likely a loss.

If we don't get CJ back our tournament status doesn't particularly matter anymore...

Oh I agree but I do want them in. Great for the program and for the guys to finish in the best sporting event there is. But yeah 1 and done probably.

We may have to slow our game down. Cut down on the fast break and cut down on the turnovers. Take time on the offensive end and work the ball in to Garza. We have the horse so lets ride him. Maybe we will have to get 50 points a game from him but he can do it. If we can cut down on our turnovers and limit the possessions that the other teams have maybe we can start winning the Wisconsin way. I do not like this way but we may have to make some changes to keep our guys fresh and increase our teams chances of winning some games in this last brutal end of the schedule.

I agree.

Cut down the possessions and play every trip through Garza.

That allows you to play with less substitutions.

Till and Ash cant be on the floor again in a competitive game, that was brutal.

Ash can at least shoot, Till brings literally 0 to the table unfortunately.

That's a fair question and honestly I didn't think this team would be making the NCAA tourney. I would have guessed something like 7 or 8 conference wins and given the non-conf schedule I'd have thought Iowa would be around 16-17 total wins.

So, all in all, performing better than I expected on the year. But what we have now is sort of like a football team making a bowl in Detroit which is to say it might be a happy surprise, but who really cares?

To me, the excitement is:
1) Garza - what a beast, and I'm guessing he'll come back for his senior year
2) Just imagine what this team could be like if we had Bohannon shooting threes along with Joe W and (a healthy) CJ

From that standpoint, I completely get the reasons to look forward to "next year", but it seems like that's always the case. That's my frustration. "Next year" looks promising indeed, but it has always looked promising.

It isn't here, lose to MN which I assume we will at this point. OSU at home, @ MSU, @ ILLANNOY VS PED and PURDUE down to the few players we have left OSU is a MUST considering our circumstances.

Isn’t it correct, instead, to say “we need to win one more game”?

Sure, the best chance may be OSU, but we can lose that one, win another, and be in the same shape.

Ha, we all want Iowa to win and make the Dance and you are right with how I phrased my original post but you seem to agree with my original point. Not worth bickering over semantics. Go Hawks at the end of the day, just got to find a way to get a few more Ws...

Get a grip dude. For chrissakes let the season play out. You turds are the only people in the country who don't have Iowa making the tournament field.

This is a weird lecture for you to give.

The problem is that Nebraska was probably the worst team we are going to play going forward. We aren't going to win all of our games at home so how do we get enough wins if we can't beat the worst team in the league?

This team without CJ lost to Nebraska. Some ignorance posting here, not you.

This team also beat Maryland without CJ, which is tougher than any of our upcoming home games.

I would put 100 bucks with anyone who truly thinks we are going to lose out.

I don't, just was brainstorming on what needs to happen with our new reality and beating OSU is a huge opportunity even in our current state that they should be able to do, and find another W at home, road trips, yikes.
