Not about football, it's about Nebraska as a whole.
Sounds like an answer you give when you don't have a response. Nice work.

This is just not a good comeback. Try again. That response tells me your choice of institution of higher learning was neither Iowa nor Nebraska. What community college did you attend?
I don't think football is something you have to fall back on these days. Do you still have a team? We haven't heard much about them lately.Sounds like an answer you give when you don't have a response. Nice work.

Seriously, you just don't hear about them very much. Did y'all root for Creighton now?C'mon...that's not a good comeback either. lol

The choices:
*** Oklahoma, a program and school with tarnished reputations. Follows Texas like a lap dog.
*** Kansas, great basketball, football smells so bad many think it's rotting flesh. Great academics and would fit in the B1G for the most part. No television audience outside of basketball.
*** Texas, a huge ego that tears apart a conference when it doesn't get it's way. Bad! Bad! Bad decision to let them in the B1G. Just ask Nebraska and the rest of the former Big 12 teams who left that forsaken conference.
It's best to keep Nebraska, invite Kansas and look for another team in a great market area which has a great athletic program and can match the B1G's scholastic expectations. Oklahoma is not that team. Many of their students can't even spell Oklahoma.
Virginia or Syracuse should have been added as ND gave the B1G the finger. Virginia ties Maryland with DC Metro audience and good sports recruiting in football and basketball. Syracuse football is a major drawback but basketball and academics are top notch. Certainly better than Nebby where N stands for kNowledge.
Yeah...and better than Iowa where "I" stands for....uh...Iowa...
C'mon, you've got better than that. @Herkmeister would be disappointed in your use of this old joke. haha

Is this Nebraska humor? It's just not resonating with me.You're just not real good at this internet stuff, are you? Be honest now...you're still sitting with the kids at the portable card table and folding chairs during holiday meals, aren't you?
Sure, you're not a Fusker disguised as a Gopher.....trolling Iowa.Iowa is such a little brother fanbase.
I'm not a Nub fan, but Nebby is head and shoulders above them. Makes me laugh how these "Nebraska" threads constantly stay at the top of this forum.
Iowa State move over!

Doesn't little brother usually go and annoy big brother? So since you're here annoying us......
I just call it like I see it. I've never seen a home board so obsessed with another team - worst case of little brother syndrome I've ever seen.
At least us Gophers don't constantly show our butt hurt, and it's been two bad seasons back to back this year.

Hey, if you ever see anything sorta mean from me, it's all in good fun. And rare. The one time I crossed a line into crassness I knew it and apologized immediately.
I enjoy the back and forth banter, the 'little brother' claims from both sides and all the friendly ribbing. You guys are pretty much the same type of people as Nebraskans and that is a good thing. Iowa State, too. Probably everyone in the area, but I don't know many people from other B1G states.
Anyway, this could turn into a real fun rivalry. I think Iowa has a great shot at the west this year. I hope the west starts looking better as a whole.
It's a fun rivalry for sure. (When Iowa wins!!) Western Iowa feels much more passion against Nebraska than Eastern Iowa it appears.
Tell Tommy Turnover hello from all of us. I have a cousin on the Lincoln Police force that knows him.![]()
I wouldn't go as far as saying "They own Iowa". Nebraska is not what it was in the Tom Osborne days, and since coming into the BIG isn't Nebraksa 3-2 against Iowa? That is what I would call pretty evenly matched. Nebraska hasn't owned anyone since the new millennium. That being said, I am one that loved Nebraska being in the BIG. They do have that rich tradition in football that helps the conference. If you wanted to compare apples to oranges, Iowa has a good football team, good basketball team (Men and womens) and excellent wrestling program. Nebraska is prestious in football only from what I know. I don't know about baseball, volleyball ect. so maybe Nebraska is decent there. But when someone says the University of Nebraska, only football comes to mind.Say what you want about Nebraska. They own Iowa and will take more than their share of B1G titles.
From what I hear the Husker program appreciates all the publicity received from Iowa fans throughout the year on this board.
I certainly could give two shits whether or not Nebby fans give us credit and/or admit that they got beat by a better team (particularly of the internet variety). Fact of the matter is, the rivalary that is growing between Iowa and Nebby is going to only help both programs. Nebby has plenty of history and still has some national prominence and when we play on Black Friday it is broadcasted to a national audience and as long as Iowa continues it's current upward trend it is only going to help.....Nebby fans are going to be Nebby fans they are delusional and stuck in the past. But to their credit they are very passionateThe key difference with Iowa's more recent "rivalry" for instance with Northwestern, is that after Iowa beat the Wildcats this year their coach and fanbase (for the most part) gave the Hawks props in the victory. However, when Iowa beats Nebraska it appears much of their fanbase (particularly of the internet variety) comes up with excuses on why Nebby lost, rather than simply admitting they got beat by a strong team.

We lost by 8 points to you
after Rutgers and Maryland just brutal additions to the Big 10 makes the conference a jokethat school is a dead weight in our esteemed conference. They must go

I love the moral victory that Nebraska fans got out of this year's game. Good spin.
Good luck with Riley as your head coach. Career conference record is sub-.500.
P.S. You keep claiming Iowa dropped from 40s to 80s in USNWR. I don't think Iowa ever ranked that high, please cite your source or drop the straw man.
Actually your post is a bigger joke.after Rutgers and Maryland just brutal additions to the Big 10 makes the conference a joke
even PennSt should find a new home
Drop the straw man? Yeah, that's what gives me satisfaction in life...going from board to board citing fake US News and World Report rankings that make a school look outstanding academically, just so I can come back later with the 'real' numbers and insult the school. You've blown my cover.![]()

I personally think Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas State, No Dakota State, So Dakota State, Illinois State, Indiana State and a few others should start their own Ag-research driven conference.Nebraska's loss of AAU status has many factors, but you probably know them better than I do, considering your general vitriol toward NU.
Loss of AAU status was driven by NU doing a great amount of agricultural research. This should be concerning in ANY state that has an ag-driven economy. Like Iowa. Food from our states helps feed the world, a proposition that won't get easier in the next decades. Research in these areas has greater value than the AAU has accorded it.
Disqualifying NU's medical school. NU had the foresight and wisdom to place the med school in the state's largest city an hour away. Where it does the most good for the most people and provides the best education for its students. One day Iowa may find that Des Moines is a good location for medical school activites for the same reasons. Should that research or teaching not count for UI because it is located in Des Moines? I don't think so.
AAU status is important, at least among academics. It does little or nothing for the residents of a state and from that angle resembles nothing more than a good ole boys club of academics. Still, it remains important to the schools, so remains important to attain-and keep.
Again, you seem to have a particularly keen axe to grind toward NU. I see this was bumped, after being a dead thread, immediately after NU accepted a commitment from a 4* WR you and many were hoping would be coming to Iowa.
Sports is fun, football is great. Don't let your fandom blind you to the more important educational aspects each of our schools provide to our states. Each has a unique mission within its state. Agriculture is, no doubt, a key part of the mission for our schools along with Iowa State. Even if it's peripheral to UI's core missions, it will always remain important.
