New covid vaccines are out! Anyone else make an appointment?

What's your personal knowledge regarding the CDC?
I don't work with them but one of my former students works in their influenza vaccine unit. I'm sure they are a fine organization but much like any government agency they have issues with malaise, staffing and equipment. They were caught flat footed during the start of covid, have had and continue to have inept leadership and anecdotally I will tell you better scientists go into private industry. It pays higher and they have access to cutting edge equipment and better colleagues.

Thanks although I asked @Gus is dead

I can tell you, being in the covid vaccine industry, that video is just flat out laughably wrong. I'll stand by my assessment.

We still don't even know what some of the covid genes do.

That video is hilarious and sad at the same time.

Yeah?

What's wrong about it?

The CDC Director says she's getting the covid vaccine for herself and her family.

She has degrees from Cornell, Yale and Harvard. That's pretty good.

Could you define "many?"

Like, how many doctors do you know that don't recommend the vaccine.
I know very few, in fact zero, that recommend the vaccine to all comers.

The vast majority recommend it or recommend against it on an individual basis. That’s the correct answer. Ask your own doctor for their advice based on your history.

That is why I don’t trust your retail pharmacist. They dont have the training or experience to fully assist you. IMO.

There is zero question that the retail pharmacies are incentivized to vaccinate as many people as possible.

I don't ask my pharmacist, either.

I referenced the CDC.

How many did you ask about the covid vaccine?

What about the flu shot?
Over the past 12 months probably it has come up in conversation with all.

I get that every year.

You wanna know the difference? The flu vaccine gives me few side effects if any at all and it has a long record and safety profile. Decades long. So given those two things I only have benefits to gain.

Interesting.

90%+ of doctors support the covid vaccines.

The virus is being studied on a daily basis. We don't have good data on many genes as I'm repeating. Hiv-1, we've studied in earnest since 1984 and even today, we're learning new things.

It isn't my job to convince you but use common sense. Do you think we know more about a virus that is 3 years old in a viral pandemic or viruses like influenza, which we've known since the 1900's?

And I'm glad she went to reputed institutions. So did I and so do the scientists that I collaborate with, some of whom are at the ones you've listed and others are at equally prestigious institutions you haven't listed.

Most definitely not excited at all as after each Covid vax I get very sick (about 12 hours after) and am in bed miserable for 48+ hours. I make sure I get them on a Friday and the weekend is wasted. Monday isn’t great but better. Only vaccine I’ve had issues with. My doctor said it was up to me, pros and cons either way. I’ll probably get it and I typically get the flu shot. Nobody else in my family gets the flu shot and they did not get Covid shots beyond the initial ones.

Sorry about the side effects.

I've never had a covid vaccine side effect except a sore arm.

Had the first two shots and they made me as sick as I've ever been. I had the OG Covid before the shots were available and it was mild in comparison.

I'm not anti vaxx at all but I'm in good health, good shape and still fairly young so it isn't for me right now.

No. I've never got the flu shot either and won't be starting this year. Some of you pansies need a better immune system 😉. I can't think of the last time I was sick to the point I had to stay home or was laid up in bed (knocks on wood).

Anyone who gets a shot is emotionally and mentally unstable. You are also physically weak.
I beat COVID by eating steak, fresh greens and fruit. Lifting weights and staying off of antidepressants and drugs. Maintaining a healthy and positive attitude about life.

Here is his latest health status from August. He is doing a lot better. Looking a lot better now.

My surgery tomorrow is part two of trachea repair necessary to keep my airway open (so I can breathe). During intubation and weeks on life support ventilator my trachea was damaged and scar tissue persists which makes it challenging to speak and limits oxygen during exertion. Tomorrow’s surgery will be quick and God willing, very successful. Maria will be at my side and as usual, we will be in the care of the best doctors and nurses. If you can breathe and move, be grateful.

I made one for 2 weeks from now. I've received 5 Moderna shots and am getting Pfizer for #6.

I know most Americans don't believe in vaccines or science, but I do.

Anyone else excited to get vaxxed again?

If you believe in science, and believe these vaccines work, then why do you feel compelled to keep getting jabbed every 6 months or so?

I can honestly say I'm never excited. I have a little fear of needles and even dread my annual blood draw. I did get my flu shot last year, but I said no to my tetanus (I think I'm a few years over due now). I also haven't gotten any COVID boosters past the initial first 2 pokes in 2020. I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to do, my only bout with COVID was in June of 2022 and it was pretty easy. ...my wife breezed through it and I'm pretty sure my son is immune.

I think all my Anthrax vax's have made me super human...or I'll die in a few years. I was a military pin cushion for 20 years, so who knows.

No, it's nothing like brushing your teeth. You do you. Good luck.
Well, it is like an annual flu booster. I think I've posted on here that it's hard to know if the 2020 vaccine had any impact on my 2022 bout with COVID. However, my MIL is a walking death sentence for COVID and she's had it 2x, both time were pretty mild and I sincerely believe it's because she keeps up with her boosters.

My military disabilities are all muscular skeletal, so internally I have zero issues that would make me a high-risk candidate for a deathly bout w/ COVID. Therefore, I just have to decide if I personally need the darn thing. Currently, I'm undecided.
