Next Year

PSU will return about 80 points without rby and about 105 with him plus any points the other guys might score not in the finals this year. Probably add at 10 to 15. Beard would have scored half as much as Dean this year but they still win. We return about 55 points with Spencer included but that's one finalist short of doing much. We have very little shot without RBY and none with him. 1st place is a lock for PSU until their 174 through 285 lineup is done barring an injury outbreak.

N. Lee done for sure? RBY a question mark?

There are some definite question marks from 125-157, but 165-HWT can probably put them near 100 pts.
Penn State 165 next year?

You can't plan for injuries as we found out this season.

Guys will make strides and you can't predict transfers.

The expectations will certainly be a bit lower.

But there's about 70+ schools in the country that would like to have Iowa's problems.

Suriano seems like he could be open to a transfer and if he came to Iowa and wrestled 33 or 41 he could actually eat food during the season.😉

Anyone have any insight on a possible 157 transfer? For that matter, any studs who could enter the portal at any weight?

Not so sure you hand F*** st the title next year? Certainly should be favorites but we are right there with them at 197-285. 125 a healthy Lee is way above anything they have. 133 is a bit of a question mark but I find it hard to believe the great Fale will let RBY walk! If he does leave, I like our chances to beat them at 133.

141 remains to be seen but Henson looks solid. Murin you have to believe gives us an edge at 149. 157 is a big question mark for us? 165 appears to be two new studs but I have to favor the HAWK here. That only leaves 174-184 where we have Brands and assad. We will need those two or at least one to jump levels and I believe we have a shot.

A 157 stud transfer could certainly tilt this into our favor. Just picture Carr coming over to fill the spot. I KNOW it is a long shot but you get the idea.

I don’t know how much longer the fans will put up with no solutions at 184 in year 15 for Brands. That’s ridiculous he can’t get points from that weight.

(substitute ISU and 165 for the above and it’s my weak attempt to troll Mitch)

Handing them the title isn't even a long shot. We are not winning next year. Getting top 3 will be a challenge.

At least pick a weight we can't qualify.

To start his career he looks like a 74 to me. Hoping he grows into an 84 and I believe his dad mentioned 84 is in the cards. Between Arnold and Riggins, someone needs to grow into a legit 84.
I get the feeling 184 definitely in the cards.

Maybe 3AAs? What an absurd post
He's very emotional and needs to prepare himself for bad news ahead of time, otherwise he's likely to get his hopes up "investing" in an outcome which leaves some people wrecked. Not everyone's strong enough to watch and comment rationally

We definitely need at least 2 high end transfers and RBY to call it a career to make a run.

Transfers should be on the table almost across the board, 125, 197 and HWT excluded and to a lesser extent 165. I'm not sold on Nelson Brands...at all.

That said, even PSU has had rebuilding years. This is the end of the run with a senior/super senior heavy team so a drop off isn't some horrible thing.

If he could go to Iowa that would make 4 Big Ten schools. I have nothing but disdain for Suriano and his father. Yuk.

I sure hope Warner is back. He is not a fan favorite but he has been a very solid wrestler in a very tough weight class. Lee, Warner, Cass gives us 3 potential finalists next year.

We will need to add something at 57. Unless someone already in the room makes huge gains (either in skill or size) we don't have a ready-made replacement for Young. I don't see us adding a 74/84 transfer unless it looks like Brands cannot go next year.

I don't know if him or Assad will be AA level wrestlers but we need them both to make a huge jump next year.
I would have liked to see someone in the room prepping for 157 next year.
