Nick Suriano

So what in the article is inaccurate?
The combination of "it is likely the Big Ten would have had to do little more than put a rubber stamp on the waiver with Penn State's approval."
and
"Suriano has received a transfer release from Penn State"

Then there's "Either way, it will be the biggest national college wrestling news of the offseason"

Speaking of Rutgers here- "That could catapult a perennial top 20 team into the top 10, maybe top five in the nation."

And this doozy "a career most experts thought would result in four NCAA titles" o_O

So you're saying there might a slight bias?

Suriano to Middlesex County College. He will redshirt this coming season while wrestling unattached and training with the Scarlet Knight wrestling club.. He will complete his AA degree by next summer and will enroll at Rutgers with 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Your post seems very matter of fact. You know something or you just speculating a scenario?

Once he no longer wants to wrestle for Carl & Co., his ceiling is remarkably lowered. As to be expected I guess.
PBS is a wrestling fan, not a Penn State fan.

I had really high hopes for Nick and still do (even if he leaves my team). He's a badass.

All that said - this drawn-out drama is like one of those Housewives of Atlanta type shitshows.

Suriano can thank me later for giving him the work around on the big ten transfer rules. He was supposed to use it to come to Iowa though. o_O

We have a year to bring him over to the dark side. Very doable in my opinion.

Name 1 person not connected to New Jersey or PSU that you believe to be a wrestling expert that thought Suriano would win 4 titles. Most wrestling experts didn't expect 4 titles out of IMart after he went undefeated in winning his 1st. That was a very "I really don't know sheet about NCAA wrestling" thing to say by the author.

Cool, the usual blatant Iowa racism.

Yikes, not a good look for Cal

He's well within his rights. I don't care much for PSU or Cael but I don't blame him one bit.

Suriano knew the rules when he signed on. Because of that I don't have too much sympathy for him. That said, if he's able to get a waiver, I will be happy for him.

Not sure how you can have a much different take than this. PSU gives him a full release, but is not going to support his appeal for a waiver to the B1G. I'm not sure what else you can expect, it's at least S.O.P. and more than we've seen in many cases.

Suriano is free to pursue his options. Whatever happens from here on in is his choice.

How is this any different than Brands?

B. Rathbun, L. Thomsen, M. Malcolm, and L. Ryan got releases to anywhere they want to go...except B10 school, UNI, or Iowa State. How many of them would have liked the opportunity to stay D1 and in-state?

I know someone previously reported Ryan got a release to UNI - he did not.

This wouldn't be anymore than "policy" if Brands hadn't thrown a tantrum the last 2 years and refused to wrestle VT for Duals - which now the NCAA has just done away with altogether this year perhaps because of all the drama.

Hypocrisy - the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform

WGAF? PD3 is a Hawk now, so all rules are null & void.

The NCAA has nothing to do with national duals.

I'm pretty sure it was only UNI and ISU. Not the B10 for release conditions

It is a bit of a conundrum....

All the discussions this summer sound like RU and NS had discussed finances before the release was granted. This would be a violation of the rules and Sanderson would rightfully want to discourage it from happening again.

OTOH, having Nick at RU wouldn't make them competitive with PS, and would provide a wrestler in the conference with the best chance to knock off NATO this year and hurt tOSU's chances of beating PSU.

OTOOH, if NS goes to 133 and NATO goes to 125, it doesn't help at all!

Should be a fun season....I wish it would start already-enough drama!

I think it is reasonable for a coach to give a conditional release to schools that are not in-state or in-conference. I also love the bad press Cael is getting in NJ.

Logan Ryan is going to UNI.

Sanderson has no room whatsoever to complain on this topic.

Typo. My original post had Jew Jersey. He was making a joke about racism. :)
It really is amazing what gets autocorrected and what doesn't. I have typed stuff that gets autocorrected to really random stuff, but fumbling with small iPhone keys and typing "kike" instead of "like" - easy as k right next to l, wasn't getting autocorrected all the time.
