*****Offical 2022 Recruiting Thread*****

Not surprised. A buddy of mine got banned for saying this and explaining how he knew and what the issue is. Can’t elaborate because I don’t want to get banned and that thread was deleted.
The part of this that really gets me? On Aunurn's four deep depth chart, three are true freshmen. How can we miss on TWO TE's that were at the big recruiting weekend ? And, a third, McIntosh, chose the Badgers. Looks like 0 for 3. Didn't believe that something is going on, but now I think something is going on. 😎❤️🏈

Maybe they got a better "college fund" already set up and going? Would Tennessee's bags 'o cash still be illegal now? A booster could do it for them right?

true story had a female friend and her brother played O-line for TN back in the day, on Sunday mornings when TN had won he would find some cash inside his Sunday paper.

If this is true it is INCREDIBLE that we can’t land a guy who:
1) grew up an Iowa fan
2) plays the position we have unrivaled success with in regards to NFL prospects
3) comes from the same town as a guy who came to Iowa 5 years ago and was a 1st round pick
4) lives roughly 3.5 hours drive from campus

This stinks (if true). No two ways about it.

Guess its time for some bigtime sponsors, businesses, etc to start opening up the NIL coffers. Might help us in some of these close battles for folks that should be "slam dunks".

Add in that Woods is a family friend. But of course that actually might be a negative for some kids who are wanting to get out on their own.

So honestly now that NIL is in full effect are the bagmen now done lurking in the shadows and instead one of the greeters during the recruiting visit?

Olakudon specifically called out the race issues in his decommit tweet.

Add Skyler Bell to the list as well- Diante Vines HS teammate who was all Iowa until the last minute when he wasn’t. He also cited the race issues as a reason he didn’t come.
Isaac Thompson is quoted below. Not sure how you got “slow play” as the answer he didn’t want to come to Iowa:

“When I saw all the racial issues that came out against Iowa football, I was so shocked. I’ve been up there twice now and really loved Iowa and the city. When I saw all of these allegations about the program, it really rubbed me the wrong way,” Thompson told HN.

“It was hard for me to believe that my family and I liked it so much and it was going to be one of my top schools. To know that if I would’ve ended up going there, I could’ve been involved in all the racial stuff is tough for me. Coach (Levar) Woods and coach (Phil) Parker are great people and coaches, and I still have a good relationship with coach Woods, but I would be lying if I said I was still considering the University of Iowa.”
Sounds like the kid ignored his own eyes and experience, in favor of hearsay. Not too bright.

And a highly recruited teammate from high school is on the team. Bag men cometh.

Recruiting is competitive and can be sleazy, but why, when a recruit doesn't choose our school of preference, must we break out the accusations of cheating?
Because it doesn’t make any sense to make a decision that is full of unknowns with a new coaching staff vs the known of putting players in the nfl at his position to earn millions. The smart business decision is to attend Iowa where they make your position a focal point of the offense.

Unless you are concerned the current guy isnt going to make it 4 years and the new guy will want his own players.

Such lack of imagination on this thread.

So disappointing that we lost a middling tight end! What we really need are cornerbacks!

Folks, tight ends and cornerbacks grow on trees at Iowa. Of all the positions to worry about, these aren't the two. Save your hand wringing for QB, WR, RB and LB.

This is what I have been saying! We have a good to great QB recruit. We have a very good WR recruit this year already, and last year we brought in some really talented ones. We have some talented LBs committed so I am not as worried there. We need to get a good to great RB recruit. With Ladell recruiting now, I have a feeling we will see an uptick in that area over the next few years, hopefully starting this year!

0 cornerback commits from the last class. 0 cornerback commits in this class.

So here is what is more disconcerting to me than Deyo/MRD and whatever went on there: they have only offered FOUR CBs in this class. Something like 6-7 offers at TE and RB. It IS possible they are waiting to watch who blows up during their senior seasons but none if the other B1G programs seem to be employing this strategy.

No no, you don’t understand. Iowa values 2* and walk ons over 4*s

All those rb offers we have no traction with that is known. We have a 50/50 chance with a back listed as an athlete. Again all our chips in one basket, if we whiff we evaluate then offer, I guess. The Iowa way lately.

At cb I believe we get two guys on the roster take the extra covid year.

At te we raid the MAC or our own baseball team.

We’re going to regret not taking Smith last cycle.
