*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

why would they release him? hes not taking up a roster spot.
Release who?
Never mind. I just saw the ignore tab at the bottom of my screen. It isn't worth it to find out who that idiot multi-handle troll is talking about.

I wonder about activating Strop without a rehab assignment. I haven't heard about him doing a bullpen session.
It's got to be a thin bullpen tonight. Hopefully Jon Lester can scoop up 7 innings.

Wow. Tuned in the game to kill time before the Cards game.

And...wow. That happened fast.

This Oakland team may not necessarily hit for high average, but they do seem to be able to "erupt" rather well. Good defenders mostly, damn good bullpen, seems like most the entire lineup hits for power.

They're good.

The producer has the right idea. Just show Kelly Crull the rest of the game.

Jon Lester had his annual bad game in August.
The problem for Lester is that his aging body is
going to be a liability to the Cubs if they get to the
2019 playoffs.

I see that KB hit a 2 run homer while trailing 11-0. Nice of him to keep his stats looking good, but he can't hit the damn ball out of the infield in a clutch situation (if he even makes contact.)

I istened to a little of the Score and I heard Jonathan Lucroy’s name being thrown around since the Angels dropped him.
Pass. I’d rather have the familiarity of Davis with the pitchers. Lucroy has been broken for two years, and the concussion he sustained this year is clearly lingering. Hard pass.

Happ with the granny.

I'll grant the limited sample size, but I think Happ has shown a better approach at the plate. 27 plate appearances, he has 6 walks and 6 Ks. I'd still like to see the Ks reduce more, but his K rate is down from 36% last season to 22% so far now and his walk rate is up from 15% last year to 22% so far.

We'll see what happens as he gets more work, but the early returns are definitely positive.
