*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

So, last night's angst was a wash out due to today's game.
Two out of three ain't bad.

Pretty much guarantee that a Division title is the only team the NL Central gets into the post season.

What a shit show.
By that logic (and I use that term very loosely with you), the AL East is also a shit show. Tampa is in by 1/2 game and Boston is 6 games out. And the rest have been asleep since April 15.

When you have powerhouses like NYY/Houston... everyone else looks bad. And the proof will come in October.

Meanwhile, Cubs fans have to worry about every game and what next meaningless addition Theo adds to try and salvage a season full of personnel mismanagement...Descalso/Cargo/Phelps/etc.

To me, the biggest question mark is if Maddon decides to bat the pitcher as leadoff.

Putting the Yankees on the same level as Houston, that’s funny. The Yankees have as many playoff series wins as the Mets over the last six years.

God damn, you're ignorant.

You really think those two teams aren't comparable? Astros clearly have stronger starting pitching, but the Yanks are equal or better with the bullpen and hitting.

You come off as just a tad bit jealous as a Cubbies fan. Epstein would kill to have an organization and farm system like the NYY.

You know it. I know it. MLB knows it. You're ignorance is shining through.

Go back to creaming your jeans over Javy.

How many playoff series have the Mets won in the last six years? Now tell me how many for the Yankees?

Like the Cubs, the Astros also have a ring in the last five years, just like Epstein's previous team the Red Sox. You're coming off real bitter my man, real bitter. Enjoy those regular season wins though, do you guys hang banners for those? 2018 Yankees - Lots of Regular Season Wins!

Catcher Jonathan Lucroy is set to make his Cubs debut Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series against the Reds at the Great American Ball Park.

Lucroy, 33, who has played only one game in the last month since suffering a concussion in a home-plate collision, will bat eighth and catch Cole Hamels, who is making his second start since returning from the injured list with an oblique strain. The Cubs signed Lucroy on Wednesday after he cleared waivers; the Angels had designated him for assignment.

The Reds are playing for their lives this series. 7 games back, getting to be mid-August and they host the division leader for 4. If they win 3 or sweep, they're in the race. Lose 3 or get swept and they're dead. Split is bad for them, as they stay 7 out and cross 4 games off the schedule.

Rizzo turns 30 tonight? I did not realize that.

We're getting old. dws

Rizzo has probably been the steadiest player for the Cubs for the past 5 or 6 seasons. He is ridiculously underpaid, IMO.
