Probably should bring in a new hitting coach to clear the air this off season.
Shut him down now before Joe throws him 9 days in a row.
Hey, at least we didn't have to face Luis Castillo in this series.1 hit through 6 for Cy Mahle.
What a joke.
My wife (no pics) commented on that. Said it reminded her of the broadcasts back in the day when the various cameramen needed to do a ‘color check’ (i.e., tan contrasted with blonde, brunette, auburn...).The Bud Fan Cam — only hot babes and drunks.
Tonight’s edition was especially blatant.
Nice!
Just awful effort...again.Hey, at least we didn't have to face Luis Castillo in this series.
I think the Cubs finished 8-11 against the Reds this year, and it will probably cost them a playoff spot.
Was thinking same about Reds and playoffs. This season has been so weird with every hot streak undone by dropping a bunch of games in a row and just an amazing amount of close losses. There have been a few good moments, but overall this season won’t be noted for clutch hitting.Hey, at least we didn't have to face Luis Castillo in this series.

Or clutch pitching. There have been a few good moments, but overall this season won’t be noted for clutch hitting.

Blame Epstein all you want, but those pitchers are paid a lot of money to do a job and they failed way more than is acceptable. By and large, the Cubs relievers stunk in crucial situations. Not a lot mental toughness from them.
I don't think it was a missed call. Pretty sure it was the correct call. He kicked the ball with his foot outside the boxMeanwhile....over at Miller Park, the Brew Crew had their tying run taken away by a missed call by the home plate ump....
2-1 Pads in the ninth
How many games did they blow earlier in the season? For September the bullpen has the best era in the game.

The Cubs 'save percentage' is 20th.
That's what's cost the Cubs.

They changed the explanation to "running inside the baseline", per the Feed on the MLB app.

If you watch this clip, you can see he is out of the box when he kicks it. Where he kicks it is considered inside the baseline but out of the box.
I was at the game it was the right call. Not intentional but similar to a runner being hit by a batted ball. Can't reward a hitter for that.https://www.mlb.com/gameday/padres-...,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=567628

We'll agree to disagree on that...if you stop the clip at 4 sec. it shows that he is inside the box, but his foot is outside of the box to the inside almost on top of the plate. By rule that is inside the baseline when he touched the ball even though he is inside the box his foot was not.I watched the clip on the MLB feed; he was inside the box (foot that hit the ball) and the audio stated that as well. They changed it to running inside the baseline, whether that was the correct call, or not.
The point made was that is was not a "reviewable" call, and it probably should have been.

You conveniently left out Strop and Norwood.Chatwood and Wick were absolutely fantastic last night. Chatwood ripped through the heart of the Reds order and K'd Cub killers Suarez & Aquino and then got VanMeter looking. Wick had to get 4 outs thanks to a ridiculous error by Bote and he did walk one guy, but he got out of it unscathed.
I’m very surprised how many of you are still heavily invested in this season. Not me, I’m done.
That said, I’m still optimistic about the final 2 years of the window. Theo has similar problems in Boston and was able to recover and win another World Series. The problems here are solvable and the Ricketts have shown they will spend.

3 games out of first in the division & at the moment tied for a wild card spot. 7 games left against the Cardinals, how the hell can you give up on them?
This team is hard to cheer for, they dont do much well and the math doesnt look good. They need to win 9 of 10 to tie st louis, likely. Oh and missing 2 of their best 3 players.
The cubs lead the league in outs made on the basepaths, have committed the second-most errors in the NL and have converted only 58% of their save chances. If they were even average in any of these categories they would likely have a decent size lead.
Brand loyalty and years of truly crappy teams that I also rooted for.I’m very surprised how many of you are still heavily invested in this season. Not me, I’m done.

Cubs will score 9 tonight. Jekyll/HydeHere we go ... facing one of the hottest pitchers in the league tonight.
