It’s 2-1 and feels insurmountable

KB only hit that 91 MPH.

There have been multiple times the past two seasons where STL has seemingly pitched around a batter to get to KB. Mike Shildt has had a front row seat for KB's repeated failures against STL.

KB peaked at age 24.

he's having the strangest .900+OPS season

Here comes Strop. Might as well put a pitching machine out there since that has a better chance of getting these last 2 outs without a run.

Is it too early to write the obituary of Joe Maddon?

Was Ben Zobrist the inspirational veteran really needed?

Are there enough brooms in the Cardinal dugout for a sweep?

Are you ready to admit I’m right, that a lot of these players lack mental fortitude?

Nope. Bad streak which followed a good streak. And bad timing ...

As a Cubs fan, we all knew after scoring all those runs last weekend, that the downside was coming, and it has come.

Let's see how the season ends. I have a feeling, we may see a lot of changes coming. Four straight playoff appearances ... not bad.

Cubs this week ... :)

Maddon is a good player’s coach, but it seems like his ability to motivate them has stagnated.

The players seem to like each other, and the coaches; they all appear to get along. But, a lot of them (players, coaches, GM, president, included) appear to be resting on the laurels of winning one World Series rather than doing whatever it takes to keep that success going.

Situational baseball.

Cubs failed.

Why?

Mental weakness.

Get an entire team of guys like Rizzo, Castellanos, and Baez.

Phelps sucks!
He's always sucked. I know all about him from his time with NYY.
He's a guy you put in the game when your team is trailing 10-2 in the 3rd inning. He can eat innings and be a spot starter in a pinch.

You don't pitch him in a one run game.

Hmm two guys that were out with injuries and a guy that played for one of the worst teams ever before the Cubs bailed him out, if they were mentally strong why aren’t they out there? Why weren’t the Tigers better?

Why would I give a shit about the Tigers?

Really, abstract reasoning is not your forte. You need to use better logic.

You have terrible reasoning though. Just because a player does something wrong or team loses, mental weakness is your reason for that. Sometimes other teams or players are you know just better

That’s very true, sometimes. Not in all of these cases.

Phelps failed because he wasn’t up for the pressure situation.

Leaving 17 base runners indicates a lack of situational awareness in many of the cases.

What is the Cubs BA w/ RISP this season? What is the Cubs record in one run games?

I think you'll see why the Cubs are where they are if you answer those questions.
