*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

This thread is full of people saying the cubs have flaws. Wtf have you been reading?

If you're not screaming at all times that Theo is garbage and should be hung, you're in love with Theo and he can do no wrong.

Read the second sentence in the first paragraph. I asserted the "flaw' comment and proceeded to discuss the holes in the roster. But those holes didn't just magically appear. They've been season long. And prior to the Kimbrel signing... Theo made no progress to fill the gaps.

Is he trying? Probably, but a barren farm system and so few tradeable value players have limited him, imo. Exhibit A... KS only has value to an AL team. And Theo may have missed his narrow window on KS.

your a totally clueless, these flaws and more have been repeatedly discussed here.

Willson Contreras is starting in RF tonight, so, offensive woes solved! Totally not a random, clutching at straws move by Maddon.

Joe, it you want to win this game you need to go to the bullpen now.

Damn impressive by Contreras. Fielding the ball, Footwork on point and threw a strike.

Edit, for the 8th inning

Play a catcher in right field in the ninth inning of a close game and bad stuff happens.
He made a great throw the inning before, but, yeah, if you have a Jason Heyward on your roster you need him out there for that inning. You have to figure out how to work the roster, Joe.

This is on Joe. Why the hell wasn't JHey in RF as a defensive replacement in the 9th? Great effort by Contreras, but c'mon, put guys in a position for success.

If he's hurt, he's hurt. Why can't a major league infielder take the out at first?

Russell made the worst play of the inning. You're back and the ball wasn't hit hard. Go to first. If he'd have done that, we're in the 10th now.
We called that when it happened. Get the out. Now a sac fly beats you.

Joe Maddon is a lame duck manager. He looks like
he is managing the Cubs with desperate moves.
This is the last year of his contract and he knows it.
Theo Epstein will include Joe as part of the ton of
changes for next season.

Should all NLC teams be sellers at the trade dead line? Has that ever happened before? That strategy would seem to give each team the best chance to compete against LA next year, provided they make shrewd trades this month, of course.

Parity breeds so much false hope.

KB and Heyward both had sand in their vaginas and were NOT available. All Joe had at the end was Descals-oh-no.

Everyone should be on the table, but it's going to be tough to get value in a trade for Kris Bryant in-season......and KB isn't a piece toy trade simply to rock the boat.

KB will likely be traded in July of 2021, when the Cubs are 10 games below .500, bottom 10 farm system, and two more years of paying Yu Darvish $21M.

Growing up in Chicago I really enjoyed Jack Brickhouse along with Vince Loyd calling the games.
I grew up in the non-cable era and never even knew who JB even was. However, Vince Loyd and Lou Boudreau were at the top of my list. I listened to them, all hours of the day, wherever the Cubs might be playing.

Great times!
