*******Official Cubs 2025 Thread*******

In other former Cubs news, I saw today that D.J. Herz had decreased velocity during ST and is now out for season with UCL sprain. TJS? JFC, this game can be cruel...

Great win today. Got to watch since the I-Cubs game was washed out in Indy.

And it’s almost impossible to predict who/how/when. Some guys seem like ticking time bombs and last forever and others can’t step to the right without tearing something.

I thought the four pitch walk to start the inning was strong.

JFC are we going to do this again like last year?

And Cubs-fan-christened-future-Hall-of-Famer Cam Smith is 2-18 this season with 9 K for a BA of .111 and OPS of .349.

He may eventually be a great player, but people who are already proclaiming the trade a one-sided disaster based on Smith's Spring Training and before Tucker has a '26 contract need to pump the brakes a bit.
I’m one of them, and unless era win big this year or sign Tucker, it’ss bad trade. Economic futures are going to be tighter than they are right now

That's a lot of if's. A heck of a lot of "can't miss" prospects never made a mark in the Majors, but there have only been so many Tucker-like talents. Again, maybe chill and see how this next year pans out.

I know of a HOF former cub who at the same 18 AB point in time was 0-18, but he had only struck out 3 times with 1 walk. BA of .000 and OBP of .056. Ended up having a solid rookie season. Made it to 3-36 before a 3 hit game pushed him over the .100 BA.

Until C. Smith proves to be the next Ryno, I'm going to refrain from hand-wringing over the Cubs giving up a generational talent.

last night's win was nice but I'm still pissed about Sunday's stupid loss
me too, and the one against the Dbacks
Gonna be dayz like that. It's not like the Cubs are losing and nobody can figure out why. Everyone knows EXACTLY where the weak link is.

Little, Neely and Roberts all looking great at AAA so far, so there may be an in-house solution or two. If they can't cut it, either, then Jed needs to be thinking about how much of the farm he wants to give up to make sure this season doesn't slip away due to bullpen issues yet again.

Long season. Hang in there. Not many teams would be 8-5 with the schedule the Cubs have played so far.

With a trip to Los Angeles (Dodgers) and San Diego (Padres) coming next.
