***Official Iowa at Minnesota Game Thread***

Love the DanL53/Gopher Rube banter that has taken over this thread....sorta like Trump bad mouthing anyone that stands in his way. Fortunately the game will still go on and someone will come out on top, whether it's the Gopher's or Hawk's it should be as entertaining as most BIG games have been this year....as a Hawk fan I'm looking forward to the Hawk freshman continuing to learn how to win in the BIG.
I kinda take Dan as the anti Trump...he is all about facts which are difficult to argue. And why politics? The fun part about sports is we set all that aside and cheer as one. Let's just put politics aside and hope the goofers fall off their own floor.

All comes to down to not having another bad start and rebounding...oh and rebounding...oh and rebounding ;)

We can't trash talk with the other fans now? Gosh I hate to ruin a game thread, it's all yours.

Dan if you want to continue your hatred for all things Minnesota, go right ahead...just make sure you're doing it for all the right reasons....the mid 90's are a long time ago and as far as I know getting players whether from obscure countries or the internet is not a crime or illegal. Their coach is trying to get their program into the upper half of the BIG just like Fran is doing except Fran doesn't have a Hall of Famer for a father...and Richard has not and again as far as I know has not broken any NCAA rules that warrant an all out attack on their program as it is now....start a new thread entitled "I Hate Everything" and fire away at me, Minnesota, Gopher Rube, or anyone else you have a beef with but using the game thread is bush league.....

So you pay an exorbitant fee to a travel agency in Europe for the same service you can get from a service right here in the USA, for less money. An Agency which shares an address with a basketball academy which recruits kids from all over the world to play for them, and somehow you manage to recruit one or two or more of those players. And it isn't cheating? Not even when the guy who runs the Travel Agency is also an assistant coach on the Academy team?

Of course it hasn't broken any rules. When the rules catch up to this new form of cheating, they will establish a basketball academy on the moon.

By the way, deal with it. Or buy the board from Kakert and throw me off. Whatever. Put me on ignore. I don't care.

Hey, you've been on this board a lot longer then I have Dan, just because I don't have your same venom and hate you have.....like even though I don't like our new president, I don't go on twitter to voice my displeasure, because I know that he's doing everything in his power to show the world what an a$$ he is without my help....see how inappropriate a statement like this is in a game thread....end of rant....go Hawks....

Minnesota could win their next 23 BigTen basketball games and coach Richard Pitino would still have a sub .500 league record.

This is a huge game. It is Minnesota, but if we can pull this one off, we are staying at the 5 spot for a while.

It could be our final road win of the season. The rest of the schedule does not get easy. There maybe some lopsided wins going eigher way. But It'll be a slugfest the from here on out.

That said, the Hawks learned to play as a team and spread the ball, find the hot shooter and score. The defense is up and improving. If Jok can find his shot again, which he definitely will (assuming, and very much hoping, the back is all good), then these guys will be capable of taking on anyone on any given night.

On Iowa!

We play at MSU whom we're tied for 5th with currently. Even if we win tonight, we need to beat MSU THIS Saturday to retain the 5th spot in standings.

Yeah, pretty inappropriate. Except, all I've talked about is Minnesota, on a game thread. And yeah, I don't like the cheaters involved in the Minnesota Basketball program. By the way, didn't you sign up in 2001?

A Hawkeye victory would be outstanding, but I don't see it happening. Hawkeyes have certainly had more trouble on the road than success & the opponent comes into the game with a 5-game loosing streak. Given the Rutgers & NE game, I'm very concerned about allowing offensive rebounds & multiple possessions off a miss. Going against a quick point guard that can dish, pull from the perimeter and get to the rim. Hoping for the best, of course.

rebounding is a big issue with this team; Fran's teams seem to always struggle with rebounding and I don't understand why; if you don't rebound, you don't score, yet somehow we are averaging 80+ points per game; imagine what we would average if we did rebound?

It'll be last minute. Clutch 3 by Bohannon in the last minute to go up by one 71-70. Baer rebounds the missed shot by Minnie. Outlet pass to Jok. He's fouled and drains them both. Minnie misses a last second 3 to tie. Hawks win?
Agree! Hawks win.Good game to WAGER NO? Hawks tough. It shows. And our NEW assist leadet pj.Spreads court for our shooters.

Guess I did...I never paid attention of when a poster joined and I always enjoyed your posts as thinking you were a voice of knowledge and reason....take that for what it's worth.....

The positive that I see for tonight's game is simply that there will be no Pardons, Skellys, McVeighs, or Finkes for goodness sake! Had enough of that.

Cook and Pemsyl have to use their muscle. Jordan has to ignore the floor. Jok goes off. Brady and Baer have to keep everyone calm. Fran has to not turn purple. Maybe Moss is the difference maker?

I just want to yell at Minnesota tonight.

As a passionate Iowa fan as you are, I can understand your feelings...my wife leaves the house when Iowa basketball is on, so she doesn't have to listen to me. I'm a protectionist and if I feel that the opposition, or coach, or the Iowa players make not so unwanted decisions during the game I yell at everyone, but in the end, if Iowa comes out on top....all is forgiven :)
In 2014 & 2016 I was hoarse by the end of the year.....

Of course game runs long. When will they learn and build in time between games.

The worst was Iowa at Arizona football back in 2010. Listened to the radio at the beginning and heard what I thought was a McNutt TD.

Pick 6, Iowa usually is on the wrong end of delayed starts.

Does conference play matter anymore for the NCAA Tournament? Minnesota is 4-6 in the B1G and has not been good, yet they are "solidly" in the discussion.

Just hang around for awhile, pound it down low with the IA front court depth and somehow try to neutralize Mason.
