Yeah, their backs were up against it and they played like it, so credit to MSU there. Hawks starters aside from Garza were terribad thoughWe'll take it. This will make them tougher that was a rabid wounded Sparty I was worried. Huge game Thursday.
probably those two FTs
Crazy how a 7-3 B1G record is a huge disappointment
As far as I'm concerned next practice is nothing but shooting free throws for hours.
Minnesota was the night I gave up on this team...I can live with the Indiana loss. They just outworked us period.
Illinois is frustrating as we had our chances but just did not execute down stretch + bad call
Minnesota, however, was a gift.
Good win. The negative trolls here will try and spin it, but I’m happy with the results.
Guess I need to make my expectations more realistic, but while the Hawks won this game - and winning is always better than the other side of things - this didn't feel like much of a win.
MSU sucks. Like, really sucks. And Iowa was pushed all night and needed 4 huge FT makes by JBo at the very end to finally secure it. And this was the home game of the two H2H matchups.
Ugh.
Just a whole different thing out there with JoeT or Ulis and PerkinsA question that needs to be asked in postgame, “why no Ullis in the second half”?

I'm with you on this. Go Hawks. Kudos to JBO for hammering the nail in MSU.Okay, I'm going to look at this as we beat Michigan State. We didn't play very well, but sending Izzo back to the dump that is East Lansing without a win is a happy day. Let's Go Hawks! Time to get ready for the Buckeyes.
JC, then why are you even here?Minnesota was the night I gave up on this team...
My DirecTV crapped out just before halftime, but MSU was putting on a shooting clinic in the first half, unbelievable. If our starters are not hitting 3 pointers, and they were not tonight, then our bench and their defensive prowess quickly become a desperately needed asset.
Good stop watching and posting then.Minnesota was the night I gave up on this team...
Agree with thisOur starting guards have been forgetable a lot lately....
Maybe they should start some guards that play with intense D and set the tone, then bring in the shooters. Instead of vise versa
fûck it’s hard to be a hawk fan
#heartproblems
Teams know how to defend Iowa by pushing the three point shooters off the line so they don’t have a chance to get a shot off.My DirecTV crapped out just before halftime, but MSU was putting on a shooting clinic in the first half, unbelievable. We need 15-20 point games from Wieskamp. Take what we can from JBO but play JT when JBO can't get open looks or is giving up too much on defense. To an extent I get riding with Bohannon. He's given much to the program, and when he gets on his streaks like he did when he made 60+% of his 3's over a 6-game stretch, Iowa is extremely good. You sit these upperclassmen and you have a chance to lose the team. But to Fran's credit, he played Toussaint, Perkins and Ulis a lot tonight.
Where it gets interesting, to me, is if Toussaint, Perkins and Ulis start taking Connor's minutes. Iowa is far better defensively with Nunge or Murray playing the 4, and Iowa looks like they can actually play some defense when some combination of Nunge, Patrick McC, Murray, Perkins, Ulis, Toussaint are on the floor. I have no explanation for why Wieskamp just disappears for entire games at a time. No explanation whatsoever.
It's a win but Iowa hasn't played very well for a several games now.
I think those starters will be HUGE during the NCAA tournament. But BIG teams know these players, and they don't know our bench, yet.Hats off to fran for going with the young guys and garza down the stretch. I think that last stretch was some of his best coaching from a personnel standpoint of the season
Iowa is ranked 8th, we’re getting everybody’s best gameGuess I need to make my expectations more realistic, but while the Hawks won this game - and winning is always better than the other side of things - this didn't feel like much of a win.

Maybe because JoeT was playing probably the best game of his career? Absolutely no way you take JoeT out for ulis the way he was playing!Just let CJ heal up. You have the horses in the stable, Fran. No Ulis in the second half after all he's done is positive?
If Iowa needed offense and were trailing I could agree but they needed quickness on both ends of the court. My thoughts anyway. To an extent I get riding with Bohannon. Iowa's team > MI State's team.Iowa starters = 45 points (Garza 27)
Iowa bench = 39 points (Nunge 12 w/8 rebounds & Joe T 10 w/6 assists)
