Hi, and welcome back, to another week of hawk football. I luv this team and what their capable of. As you saw from last week the outlaw is the heart and soul of our defence he is the straw that stirs the proverbial drink. Mustang Mabin has been rock solid. Keith Duncan continues to impress in the kicking game. Leshaun had a nice game but I still feel like Akrum should be our go to. Life goes on without Mr reliable. Need to get Germany smith and Scheelhouse involved in the passing game more. Run the ball down they're throats and demoralize fitz. I feel like this team is on the cusp of breaking loose.

Proud to be from Iowa.

Fun Fact: In 1972, the student body voted to change the official nickname from "Wildcats" to "Purple Haze" but the new name never stuck.

Another Fun Fact: At only 8,200 undergraduates, it is by far the smallest school in the Big Ten. The second-smallest school, Iowa, is almost three times as large as Northwestern, at 21,000 undergraduates.

Go Hawks! Will be following the game tomorrow the best I can from the ABC 11 AM game, who ever it is with highlights of the Iowa game. Have to work on Saturday, as usual.

Fun Fact:

Last 3 Northwestern coaches:

Gary Barnett: 23-33 conference record, won Big 10 title in 4th year.
Randy Walker: 24-32 conference record, won Big 10 title in second year.
Patty Fitz: 36-45 conference record, 0 B10 titles, 11th year.

Pat "Paul Rhodes" Fitzgerald: Most Overrated coach in the B10.

According to Forbes, Northwestern University's endowment fund is valued at $10.2 billion making it one of the richest colleges in America (8th largest; Harvard is by far the richest at $35.4B). Northwestern is the only private college member of the BigTen.

An expenditure of 1% of the Northwestern endowment fund balance would amount to $102 million - that would be a pretty good start towards upgrading their community college athletic facilities.

I'll be at the game tomorrow, centerfield behind the Hawkeye bench. Really hoping the Hawks come out with a solid victory.

I also hope it doesn't rain.

Listening to Ed and Gary pregame show.......

* MVB is on sideline in a boot and crutches, no comment on diagnosis (exact injury) or whether surgery or not. Without
mentioning MVB, Robby & a doc did discuss metatarsal injury stating it is one of the most common foot injuries.
* Ed's keys to the game:
> more momentum and attitude, aka ready to play
> block on our stretch play, specifically their LBs. Last year it was our full backs that made stretch work
> first contact has to put someone on the ground, aka tackling

We need to utilize all backs as slots or out of back field releases today imo for receiving. I say we take ball first if we can and play action shot down field to smith for a td!
