Wyatt has some great options for his fifth year:

sorry but that doesnt bother me. We need to score points not worry about making part time wrestlers happy. Love BK but the program is bigger
I agree, however it’s likely a consideration for program leadership and Wyatt as well.
The lineup has way bigger holes than HWT. The resources are better spent there.
any weight that didnt score points is a hole... I would also add any weight that doesn't have a fulltime wrestler is a hole. I do agree that other weights are more important right now. I dont see bringing to much in now with DT at okiestate
Alirez won't be coming. His message to us is that he plans to stay put.
That’s me laughing at the state of the hawks. The hawks who can’t keep their guys in the line up for gambling. The hawks that can’t get top recruits at need weights. The hawks that don’t wrestle their best guys in the postseason when healthy. The hawks that won’t make coaching changes when needed and look outside of alumi. The hawks that can’t land the best available in the portal. The Hawks that finished 5th this year behind ISU. If it wasn’t for Spencer we wouldn’t be relevant. Sigh and head shake.

Gable Stevesons manager did confirm he has a year left and he mentioned “Gable would draw big money to wrestle in place outside of Minnesota”
I think Steveson could be purchased but I'd be hesitant to do that because I'm not sure of his motivation to wrestle beyond money. He has immense talent but it seems to me that new, shiny objects distract him. Maybe he needs one of AB's adderall pills. He comes across as unfocused regarding his life path..

Getting Gable back in senior level competition and on a team is a great investment though. He’s a top of the world talent level and certainly would attract heavyweights that want to learn from him.

MMA translates well to the WWE. Hard to fake a fight if you don’t know how to fight. Gables just terrible on the mic.

I did see a picture of him with AJ and Anthony Ferrari at an MMA camp in Florida this winter, which surprised me. He should have joined the drama club in college, would have prepared him better to develop a character for WWE. At this point he probably thinks college wrestling is below him, but could get a sweet NIL deal for a year, then move onto senior level freestyle or MMA. Wonder how good of a punch he takes. Him at Iowa for a year would guarantee our finals streak stays alive, and probably take away one championship from PSU . He would be an amazing partner for Ben and AJ (if he’s a hawk).
Not sure why anyone would be surprised by this. Nor, should anyone begin to use it as a negative against the staff. It was going to take something incredibly special to get him to leave. He is rooted deep and widespread. I was pretty surprised he even entertained any offers. He probably just wanted to see how much money is truly out there...
He did get No Co to pony up a decent offer, albeit significantly below ours. I'm pretty sure that was the intent of entering the portal. Stay home and get paid.
As much as I hate to say it, looking big picture I'm happier he's staying put.
You don’t want a national champ on the team? Certainly a big upgrade over the current roster options.
Big picture = looking at it from the standpoint of being a fan of the sport and what's best for the sport.
Oh yes- I’m in the same camp. The portal is horrible for smaller programs and just widens the gap between the top tier and all the rest. Been discussed here many times.
Wish Cael had that attitude, he just wants to lap the field a few times to throw competitiveness out the window. Him sending some of their spare blue chips to us would be better for the sport 😉
It does have bigger holes, but if an Olympic champ has legit interest in joining Iowa then you have to kick those tires.
