Never seen anyone work the chest wrap like Sadulaev.Tough loss. Snyder took every shot but lost 6-3. Sadulaev’s chest wrap is brutal.

Wrestled the whole match this time rather than letting off the gas like in her semifinal. Even got 2 extra laces at the end just for good measure lol. Great match by herHildebrandt wins bronze with a TF over Ukraine.
I liked your optimismCalled that one wrong, Snyder loses 6-3.
Bummer
One correction…the men only had 2 bronze medals (only 5 weight classes were qualified).USA Men’s Freestyle
2 Golds
1 Silver
3 bronze
Outstanding! I don’t thing the USA has ever earned medals in every weight class, where we had participants. Hats off to Bill Zadick.
You think Snyder has a firm grip on 97? I guess knowing your posting history I should be surprised but that’s a terrible take. There is a very high likelihood Snyder wouldn’t have earned the spot this time around had Cox made weight. A lot can happen in 3 years but Dake and Taylor are way more likely to retain their spots. I believe Cox in in the best P4P conversation.Amazing performance by USA freestyle men and women! The future looks bright too with several guys still young and many age level world champions chomping at the bit to make the team. Outside of Snyder, I think the rest of the team will be up for grabs in 2024 (This is assuming Gable walks away).
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’re ever going to get there in Greco.
I actually kind of forgot about Cox. if Cox sticks around I’ll definitely take that back. That said, while he’s extremely talented, I don’t think Cox has near the level of focus or commitment as Snyder and so I wouldn’t hold my breath on him.You think Snyder has a firm grip on 97? Cox in P4P? He lost at the Poland Open this year. He will push Snyder but until we see him competing against the upper echelon guys at 97kg that is no way to tell and that is all dependent on him showing up to weigh ins on time, lol.You think Snyder has a firm grip on 97? 57kg LeePredictions for the 2024 lineup?
my way to early predictions, but I think you see a young takeover. Probably a bit crazy, but no one will remember in 24 anyways. I’ll say it’s pretty likely Taylor hangs it up with a world and Olympic gold. Focuses on coaching and his family. Dake, I think at least takes some time off and moves back to 79 for non-Olympic years.Predictions for the 2024 lineup?
Thank you. I stand corrected, edit made. One correction…the men only had 2 bronze medals (only 5 weight classes were qualified).
If I could change one rule in freestyle it would be to allow more activity and scoring on the edge. I’ve seen multiple instances where a step out was awarded instead of the TD that subsequently occurred by either wrestler. I would prefer the step out be awarded only if no other scoring occurred.
I agree, but I think that’s how the rule actually reads. I don’t think officiating is consistent. Supposed to be continuation off the mat. Step out followed by takedown is supposed to be two. The guy who steps out can’t score off the edge, maybe that’s what you meantIf I could change one rule in freestyle it would be to allow more activity and scoring on the edge. Yes, I would like to see either wrestler score after stepping out of bounds. That’s probably too much to ask as the officials have a difficult time as is, but that would be my vote.I agree, but I think that’s how the rule actually reads. While I am a fan of Bill Zadick, and he deserves some congratulatory praise, our Freestyle success has very little to do with him. It comes down to the RTC system being in place which allows great wrestlers to live and train in the cities/wrestling rooms of their choice and earn money by doing it. It also helps elevate the level of college wrestlers in those rooms. How many men's freestyle medalists train in Colorado Springs? Answer: Zero.... Zadick may not be the driving force for Team USA's success, but A National Team Coach could screw things up, which he obviously did not do.Zadick and Steiner are doing something right. Both teams seem to be on a great trajectory.
Regarding Greco, USA Wrestling should ask anyone 3 or below in the Olympic freestyle senior rankings (in USA) to compete in GRECO, or allow any NCAA all american to enter the National Team trials for Words or Olympics (Suriano, Dieringer, etc). Our youth GRECO tournaments (Fargo) are loaded with talent. Something has to happen here. Or pay more money for world and olympic greco medals...Amazing performance by USA freestyle men and women! I tend to agree with this. No doubt this team was awesome. They are all long in the tooth outside GS. 3 years is a long was off for 30 year olds.
Taylor coaching and passing the competitve reins to Nickal? Where is Taylor going go? Staying with NLWC sucking the Golden Teat? I don't see Cael bumping out any current staff.
Even more important than this was Zeke's vision for the RTC programs. We

Now I’m terms of USA wresting as a whole, you are only beginning to see the plan that Zeke Jokes put in place with guys like Steveson and Snyder who trained along the seniors even when they were kids.
It’s why even as good as this year was, the future also looks bright. You have more of those young guys coming up who have benefited from the cadet and junior training. Think Lee, Yianni, Carr, Brooks, Kerk. The US is set up very well.
Probably not with zero ACLs. But with one maybe, and with two he definitely could have. What a great showing by 2/3s of the USA Wrestling team (please get rid of greco). I love freestyle, and prefer it over folk. However, there are what I call bullshit freestyle points, and that's where most of where Saduleuv got his. But dems the rules.
I know most are going to come at me for this, and come one come all... I'm not sure Lee could have beaten the Gilman that wrestled this tournament. He was lights out, and likely 4 secs from being an Olympic champ.
Definitely agree with two he could have. 2020 Lee, maybe. Would have been a good one. And this is to compliment how good Gilman looked. No knock on Lee.Probably not with zero ACLs. But with one maybe, and with two he definitely could have.

Interesting because I think Gilman's 2017 run was better both domestically and internationally. He teched the same Iranian at worlds that he beat for bronze at the Olympics. Gilman has always had the goods but could he finish things off in big matches? That (and the occasional head up the arse match against lesser competition) has always been the frustration. He wrestled a great match against the Russian but so did Abdullaev who lost in the closing secs as well. The difference between the two is Gilman picked himself up and came to wrestle later on.
Not quite true. That match came down to the final seconds with Gilman hanging onto an ankle to prevent giving up the winning takedown. Ref initially signaled 2, but was not confirmed.Interesting because I think Gilman's 2017 run was better both domestically and internationally. I will say both Abdullaev and Atri looked really flat on day 2 here (especially Abdullaev) and I believe both wrestled up at 61kg recently. I'm guessing the cut took a big toll on both.
U.S. is not too shabby in their support...
