One of my favorite matches of all time, and I hope that if they meet again this year that the match goes similarly. But outside of that one night 4 years ago, when has Snyder been better than Sadulaev since? Sadulaev has grown into the weight and is now just as dominant as he was at 86kg previouslyOther than the World championship when Snyder beat him?
That’s why i said four-ish. It’s almost four years ago to the day even. But that was the first year Sadulaev was at 97 too.Other than the World championship when Snyder beat him?
I don’t think it's pessimism to think Sadulaev should be considered a heavy favorite. He's pretty likely the P4P best in the world currently. I think Snyder has a better chance than most do against him and I will be cheering hard for him to do so, but realistically he is an underdog, and there's no shame in thatNot discounting him, just don't get the pessimism. It's not warranted imo.
Guess we will see.
I guess , hopefully we will see. Snyder doesn't look like he did two years ago. Full blown man now. He's cut, lean and mean.I don’t think it's pessimism to think Sadulaev should be considered a heavy favorite. He's pretty likely the P4P best in the world currently. I feel he looks more or less the same. Less hair. Maybe slightly more tan? Which ’must be a requirement out East.I guess , hopefully we will see. Snyder doesn't look like he did two years ago. Full blown man now. He's cut, lean and mean.
Anyone notice the change ?
One reason is Snyder has taken several losses since he beat Sadulaev. Since then, Sadulaev has not lost which includes pinning Snyder. Not sure why everyone discounts a two time world and one time olympic champ the same age as Sadulaev when they are 1-1.
Snyder got caught.
That's absolutely insane to me. Nationalist tribalism is strong I guess.
Wow, great finish! His opponent wanted to lay on the mat like a pancake for the last 7 seconds and run out the clock, but great job by the ref blowing the whistle and bringing them back to center. I admit I haven’t watched a ton of freestyle wrestling, but I really like how this style makes people wrestle instead of stall ride or back up for 5 minutes.
Has he said for sure that he's done after this?Shame this may be the last time we see Gable wrestle for real. He just put both of the old hw studs out. He could own HW for the next decade. Hell his best competition in the future would probably come from usa hw’s anyway.
only 21 years old.
Wish he’d stay for the next Olympics. Get two olympic golds, three worlds, all by 24 years old. All the time in the world to go to the wwe.
Ahh, then good point. That's not much fun.Talking about OT rideouts...the 30 sec goes where guys drop down to legs and hold on for the stall etc.

After today, he is not more marketable than he is right now after winning the way he did. Most of America will see the final secs and the flip. Not a household name yet but you can see it coming. So can those with deep pockets.
I wish there was a way he could do both, can you imagine the massive amount of new fans he could bring to the sport?Yep. It’s a damn shame as a wrestling fan that we won’t get many more years of watching Gable. He is truly a rare talent.
But his stock is as high as it will get, and if he wants to cash in, you can’t blame him.
Now I’m confused…. Shouldn’t he be chastised for being a horrible teammate and quitting on his team to accomplish a dream?Yep. It’s a damn shame as a wrestling fan that we won’t get many more years of watching Gable. He is truly a rare talent.

Damn exciting stuff indeed. But I am seeing some stuff to the effect that in FS, you really aren't supposed to be allowed to catch and release, and that if that is true, the Georgian gets a point, such that the match would have been tied on GS's second takedown, and the Georgian would have won on criteria. For those better informed than me, is that correct?Wow, great finish! He just won a gold for his team. Don’t think he’s on a team anymore. If he qualified for Olympics, but then decided to go to Wrestlemania when the Olympics were happening, he would certainly deserve ridicule. Now I’m confused…. So he doesn’t want or need to help his teammates at Minny win something? He just won a gold for his team. Don’t think he’s on a team anymore. If he qualified for Olympics, but then decided to go to Wrestlemania when the Olympics were happening, he would certainly deserve ridicule.
Catch and release? There is no escape in freestyle that I know of.Damn exciting stuff indeed. The ref was calling them up pretty quick for Gable. Normally, I’d be surprised to see them not run the clock out there but I think it was pretty consistent through the match. #biased?
Got it. So Spencer Lee misses the Princeton dual for Senior Nationals, bad teammate. Ben Kueter misses a baseball game for Fargo, bad teammate. Gable (theoretically) quits the sport, good teammate. He just won a gold for his team. Don’t think he’s on a team anymore. I’m sorry you’re unable to follow such a simple example. Not much I can do about that.Got it. So Spencer Lee misses the Princeton dual for Senior Nationals, bad teammate. Ben Kueter misses a baseball game for Fargo, bad teammate. Gable (theoretically) quits the sport, good teammate.
Is it just current and future Hawks you have a problem with or are there others?
Again, the season is over. He is not currently a part of the team. Once the season is over, you’re certainly not required to come back. What a weird argument you’re making about someone who left during the post-season and trying to compare it to someone who competes the entire year?So he doesn’t want or need to help his teammates at Minny win something?
Not defending the premise (neither Lee nor Kueter are bad teammates in my view) but how would Steveson's decision be any different than a college football or basketball player leaving early to go pro?Got it.
