Omaha Biliew

Kansas, Indiana, Texas, MSU, USC, UCLA, Arkansas, Alabama, and Baylor all have good capabilities of passing. It is still very early.
Several of those schools you listed currently have zero commitments for the 2023 class. Could two or three of those schools pass Iowa State? Sure, it is likely. They arent falling much outside of the top 5 though. Especially if Otzelberger has one more recruit up his sleeve which would not surprise me.

It won’t last when other blue bloods class start to fill up. 1 5* and 2 4*s are no where near a top 5 national class.
So you're dissing a likely top 15 recruiting class when it's all said and done. That's certainly a take. Where is Iowa gonna be ranked again?

Not going to lie, I find it a bit funny that your first action after hearing the news that the highest ranked recruit in program history just committed to your team is to come on a Hawkeye message board.
clones being clones...

as for OB, good for them. ISU has always relied on flexible academic standards, gimmics and other inexplicable factors to get their "superstars". They can have their season in the sun. He'll be gone after 1 if he's everything he's purported to be.

Don’t know and don’t really care basketball recruiting rankings don’t mean as much now with the portal and NIL. It’s bold to premature celebrate a top 5 class this early when Omaha can bolt for the G league or get a massive NIL deal from Kansas.

Am I reading correctly that this upcoming season will be his 4th different high school in four years?

Actually three schools as I guess Waukee gets a second go round.

WTF. Is he gonna have a high school diploma?

Would I have liked to get this kid, heck ya but let’s not forget Fran just had a player go #4 overall in the draft and probably a top 15 player next year. Great get for ISU but credit should also be given to Fran on what to me seems to be a huge uptick in talent lately.
The more important issue to me is not talent but why Iowa can’t break through to the Sweet 16. I do think the Iowa program under Fran over the last four years is trending up. Will that result in a Sweet 16? I don’t know but I like the direction of the program.
Probably a top 15 pick next year? Possibly true, but probably seems like a stretch. Love his game, yet he is not his brother. Not dissing him, but that feels like unfair expectations. Your point that the recruiting having picked up is valid.

Highly drafted players only count when clown fans say so. When the clowns suck all that matters is NBA draft picks. The key skill the isu fan base possesses is telling the world what does and doesn’t count. NBA first round draft picks only count when it is a clown player and must be ignored when anyone from Iowa is drafted.

Just the little brother syndrome that afflicts all clown fans.

As an Iowa fan, this is beyond frustrating to me. TJ has already done something Iowa hasn't been able to do since 1999 and three coaches. Now he's pulling in top, national recruits while we're crossing our fingers that some marginal recruits turn into diamonds. Fran has had a great track record the last couple of years on individual guys, but can't do jack in the tourney.

I can see one glaring difference between ISU and Iowa's top recruits...

Not even close to a top 5 class
24/7 has them with the #3 class right now. Otzelberger has done a helluva job unfortunately. Frankly, with the exception of the student section, I just don't see what they're selling that's better than Iowa, but the results speak for themselves.

As a Cyclone alumnus + fan, it is certainly exciting. What TJ has been able to do in 1.5 years is remarkable. The rag tag team he assembled last year getting to a Sweet 16 was completely unexpected. Because of last year's succcess, expectations have been raised. You have to be careful with higher expectations though (see ISU football last year). With the incoming freshmen class + transfers, expectations are much different this year. I'm sure a percentage of ISU fans expect another Sweet 16. Thats just dumb. A year from now, the incoming freshmen class (plus any unforeseen incoming transfers) will continue to raise expectations. This is all good, but I've learned as a Cyclone fan over the years to be cautiously optimistic. NIL + the transfer portal have changed everything. This change is not necessary positive. Seeing Tyrese Hunter transfer so abruptly changed my view of college sports. I'm gonna TRY to not get so emotionally invested in it all. So, I'm happy that Billew committed to ISU. It should be fun to watch him play for one year, and I will hope for the best with the bball team. Time will tell.

If Omaha had chosen Iowa I would be excited. Hawks just had the #4 draft pick and it would make sense that a local top prep player would want to follow in his footsteps....but no, he opts for ISU with a new coach. Why?
Fran has got to change the perception of the Iowa program among top recruits, somehow.
Is ISU promising a big NIL payout to Omaha?

He's gotta be 25 years old.

Probably is top five right now, but more likely top 10 to 15 after the rest of the highest ranked recruits around the country commit.
In any event it is a lot higher than our class. We could use a recruiter like they seem to have at state. Two of their 3 current recruits are from out of state, so he is getting others besides Iowa's Omaha.

ISU is kickin' it in recruiting this year. There is no way to argue against it.
Hate to say it but Hawk basketball has become a distant third in my pecking order. Football and wrestling are the only two that really matter to me anymore. Too many letdowns and crushed hopes with hoops. My blood pressure can't take any more of Fran McCaffrey.

Understand you weren’t dissing on the kid and see your point. However, I don’t think it’s unfair at all to mention Kris as probable top 15 pick. It’s obviously early but some mock drafts have him in this range next year. Everything I’ve heard is that he’s just as good as Keegan. NBA is about potential and Kris has it. I certainly won’t bet against it.

Little bro sure needs big bros affirmation today.

We want more. We want more. We want more and the 5 douche culture at isu will have clown fans give it to us.
