Excuses, excuses, excuses.Wonder if he will mysteriously gain a lot of muscle mass and move up a couple weights too.

I mean he already dismantled everyone at Worlds, including Vito.It makes no sense to me to bring in foreign wrestlers to American colleges to train them to beat our American wrestlers at Worlds and the Olympics. I guess that is just me. Ono isn't going to get better for the Olympics by wrestling college folkstyle wrestlers, so this really hurts the American freestyle wrestlers if you ask me.

If you donate to the NLWC are you hoping your money is spent to train Ono to beat whoever he faces from the United States in future freestyle events while representing Japan?

We like our guys?It would have been nice to get him to IC. Wonder if he considered that?
it isn't an excuse it is a fact. And, majority of wrestlers use some sort of performance enhancer not just PSU. So get over yourself please.Excuses, excuses, excuses.
Including Iowa?it isn't an excuse it is a fact. And, majority of wrestlers use some sort of performance enhancer not just PSU. So get over yourself please.
i don't disagree with you, but if you look at it from just about every other angle, it makes tons of sense:
Ono likely getting $$ along with good enough partners (along with that PSU education!)
PSU gets a potential hammer.
and (as somebody already joked about re: Carl sabotaging Ono) both things can't true- either Ono is getting better training there (and thus is makes sense for him), or he's not getting better in the room training (and thus it isn't hurting the Americans).
its my opinion that Ono is going to be getting better wherever he is at, so I'd prefer he was doing it for the Hawks and maybe helping us get a title there.. There are plenty of Nittany Lions on these boards, so i dont need to speak for them, but I am guessing most feel the same way
edit to add: I also think the fewer 24 years olds wrestling 18 year olds, the better!
He is 21 and will be 22 at next NCAAOno will be a 23 year old World Champion freshman at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
All true but I think there are more 19,20 year olds wrestling as true or redshirt freshmen than 18 year olds.i don't disagree with you, but if you look at it from just about every other angle, it makes tons of sense:

I think we are going to see just how much tougher folkstyle is than freestyle and how you need a much more diverse set of skills to succeed. With he ability to back up, he will not be as dominant on his feet.(I still hate that backing up is allowed) Also, the leg passes and the riding and mat wrestling will make him mortal and beatable. IMHO.Opposing wrestler still has a choice for 1 period.
It was bad for college wrestling to allow athletes to extend college careers to 6+ years. Ono also will block development of younger wrestlers. Ono will not improve by wrestling in college. He is already the best in the world. It is like an NCAA champion going back to high school to win a state championship. If he wrestles for 4 years at Penn State, still will be younger than Teemer and Brands this year. Clearly being old doesn't equal success.

yeah, our mods really like to kiss PSU ass around here. Got in trouble for making Steroid jokes about PSU (even though its starting to look less and less like jokes)
No one is going to hate PSU because he trains there. It will also be great for Lilledahl and Blaze to have him in the room, and vice-versa.Well, then that helps us get the Raneys.
Let be PSU be responsible for helping him train to beat another American at the Olympics. Everyone will start hating them instead of Iowa. There is a reason why recruits don’t sign with ISU — because they don’t speak Spanish.
Go get Raneys and Mocco.
Careful. I’m pretty sure there are posters here who will get mad at me for YOU saying that.We like our guys?
It is absolutely a great deal for Ono. Free education and lots of NIL money (I'm sure way more than he would get in Japan) to wrestle while getting his free education. It is a no brainer for him to jump all over the PSU offer.i don't disagree with you, but if you look at it from just about every other angle, it makes tons of sense:

Supposedly he has to have deals in Japan, I'm not sure though but I believe I read that somewhere. It is absolutely a great deal for Ono. Assuming he’s on a student visa, I do believe that limits his earning potential? Unless that has changed. That was what I had read about Tory Taylor.Supposedly he has to have deals in Japan, I'm not sure though but I believe I read that somewhere.
He is 21 and will be 22 at next NCAA
No real answer just yet. A lot will depend on what type of VISA he gets.
In short: He could file for an exception. With revenue sharing he cold run afoul of Immigration/labor laws. OR he could file for a VISA that allows him to work in the US - then it's all gravy.

LMAO... listen to what every wrestler says about the "tests" that they go through. I am done talking about it. I don't want to get banned. As a PSU fan you are allowed to keep going though...Seriously? you know they test for that, right? This isn't forty years ago.
yes I am sure some of the guys may get prescribed adderall or something like that just for exampleIncluding Iowa?
I would agree that any student athlete receiving stimulant treatment for ADD/ADHD should be required to demonstrate pretty clear evidence of the condition to warrant a TUE. And, yes, that includes PSU athletes such as AB.yes I am sure some of the guys may get prescribed adderall or something like that just for example
May it please the court.
Green Card; Student Visa; Artistc Merit; Shohei Ohtani Financial Advisor; Tariff Exemption?
He can apply for an O-1 visa under exceptional athlete and still go to school. No real answer just yet. A lot will depend on what type of VISA he gets.

I think 20 if he doesn't RS.How old will Bo Bassett be at his first NCAA tournament?
No, your wrong. It's almost like an Olympic champion going back to college to wrestle.
It's bad for college wrestling because it benefits PSU. Holding a kid back simply for wrestling purposes is okay though if it benefits Iowa, amirite?
No, your wrong.
Penn State was going to win championships with or without Ono wrestling in college. Ironically there are fewer and fewer Pennsylvania wrestlers in the PSU lineup. But go ahead and villainize the high school wrestlers who chose to leave the state.
Are you saying that Iowa and Oklahoma State should do the same? Recruit world medalists from other countries? If this practice proliferates do you really think it is good for college wrestling?
