I was looking forward to a learning on the job year next year for both with the potential to be good by the end of the year and hit the ground running the next season.Yeah, I get it. IMO, it’s time for our two other point guards on the roster to shine. I like the benefits they provide athletically with the potential to get to the lane and get JBo and our other perimeter guys kick outs.
Like most of us, I want to see Fran’s offense run by an athletic point guard that can play fast and guard the shit out of an opposing guard. I think we will see that with Joe T and A Ullis. I am really excited to see Ullis play this year
As a paid member....I am not as concerned about this as I once was. Not saying that I am not concerned....just that I am not as concerned based on what I have read from Tom K.....I hope that is not revealing more than what I am allowed to reveal.
Rebraca didn’t come to Iowa to come in off the bench.
Maybe not if we are to believe that CJ couldn't play defense which is what we are hearing based on the Oregon game. He does however appear to be getting a lot of interest supposedly from some blue-bloods.
Before we threw the Iowa guards under the bus after the Oregon game consider the B1G season as a whole. The Iowa defense kept B1G teams in 10 games to scoring under 70 points, 6 games under 80, and 5 games (all losses) over 80. Iowa made a big turnaround once they played pretty much strictly man to man and they were 4th in D1 with a scoring average over 83 points per game.
What happened in the Oregon game was that Iowa had to play against an Oregon team that didn't have to play against Virginia Tech 36 or so hours earlier and Iowa had to play against a competitive Grand Canyon 38 hours earlier. They played against Oregon with Oregon having fresher legs. The coaches aren't going to use this as an excuse nor should they. Iowa did however play against some B1G teams with excellent athletes and quick physical guards and stayed in almost every game that they played during the year.
This brings up an interesting conundrum...Will Jordan be leaving his shoes on the court in Hilton again?
I think it's best if he moves on.

Iowa ended up winning by 12 points against the 11th seed with Bohannon playing 29 minutes and CJ playing 32 minutes. Against Oregon, Bohannon played 19, and CJ played 13 because they were a step too slow defensively and Fran had to play Ulis and Perkins much more than he had all season in any game that Iowa had played. CJ didn't even see any action in the 2nd half against Oregon.Lame excuse. Iowa had a comfortable win against a 15 seed and got their feet wet in the tournament.
Oregon came in untested. It works both ways. If Iowa was all that, they should have been more than ready with a 36 hour recovery period.
Put him at the “2” and let him fire away. Good for JBo. Hell, if the Hawks welcomed me back for another year why the hell wouldn’t I come back. This is as good as getting any other “shooter” out of the portal.

Only if we had committed to that with Garza here. Completely bungled. Not sure if
I was told this by a player’s family member. They had a team meeting last week and it was dIscussed.
The idea is to get Jordan to do what he does best... shoot! No responsibilities of bringing the ball up, setting the offense up, just run the motion required in the 2 guard position. This is what has been shared with me.
Can JBo still run the point in a pinch.. yes, of course. Will he be the first choice to handle the ball with the game on the line.... probably. Will he be option # 1 to receive an inbounds pass in a tight game when trying to salt a win away... it would make sense.
This is more than anything how I see JoBo in Iowa's offense next year.I would be okay with that. I've always maintained JBo is best suited to play the role of Brody Boyd.
So Joe W is leaving?...Sources.Iowa needs another guard. Jordan would be welcome. A known commodity, understands the system, and can shoot the three.
There are over 50 minutes a game to be has with Joe W and CJ leaving, so no lack of opportunity for the young guys.
There is no guarantee Connor will be 100% next season.
For Jordan, his desire to return may be related to his work in NIL. Maybe still being a player helps in that effort.
I don’t see Jordan being a role player off the bench. My guess is he starts and plays a role similar to this part year.

Agreed. Graduated and gone.I've always maintained JBo is best suited to play the role of Brody Boyd.
Time to move on and get a job.
So Joe W is leaving?...Sources.
JBo described himself as a "great point guard" this year. He's not moving to the two even though its the only thing that makes sense if he is returning to the team.No it isn't.
Most other D 1 players aren't the defensive liability he is.
I hadn't read or heard that. Link?JBo described himself as a "great point guard" this year. He's not moving to the two even though its the only thing that makes sense if he is returning to the team.
I think the actual quote was best point guard in the country.JBo described himself as a "great point guard" this year. He's not moving to the two even though its the only thing that makes sense if he is returning to the team.

Yes! 100%. At some point, it's time to move on.I assume you felt the same way when Coleman Lands transferred to ISU to play a 6th season.
Time to grow up and quit being a smartass young man.Your source must be everyone
Yes! 100%. At some point, it's time to move on.
He certainly helps. ISU may still struggle, but I feel better about things today than I did a month ago.
Jack Nunge's birthday is February 20, 1999. He will be a 22 year old sophomore, 23 year old junior, and 24 year old senior.
Patrick McCaffery's birthday is March 20, 2000. He will be a 21 year old freshman, 22 year old sophomore, 23 year old junior, and 24 year old senior.
"Normal" isn't what I was shooting for. Those who are critical of JCL of being 24 years old needed to be careful because of two players on the Iowa roster on the same path age-wise.
Also, the person critical of JCL being at 3 schools in 6 years needs to be careful as well. Hard to hold it against him for transferring from IL to DePaul. Players transfer for a lot of reasons (see Jarrod Uthoff). JCL got his degree at DePaul and is using the grad transfer route to play at ISU.
It just seems people are being critical of him for one reason, he signed with ISU.
Again, link? TIA.I think the actual quote was best point guard in the country.
No.Again, link? TIA.
One of the bestAgain, link? TIA.
Nope, but thats why you continue to try something different.
The appeal of the upcoming season for me was to finally see an Iowa team that isn't overmatched athletically for the first time in decades.
Throwing the worst athlete in the conference back in the mix will have a serious negative impact on the defense.
I think there's a good chance he comes back; I think he wants to see the NIL thing get passed nation wide before he leaves Iowa; just my opinion; we shall see what happensYes! 100%. At some point, it's time to move on.
Great. Let's make it a lame duck year for Fran, too. Really up the odds for a glorious Sweet 16 return!Well with your logic Bohannon coming back for 6th year is trying something different and in fact trying something that last brought us to a sweet 16.
Jess Settles 6th year
"I’m going to do whatever I can to be one of the best point guards in the country" and "I feel like I'm one of the best point guards in the country". He never said he was the best. One of the best
Jordan Bohannon wants his 'dog mentality' to carry over to rest of No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes
Bohannon believes a point guard must set the tone, and his tone has always been brash. He is hoping to instill that into a Hawkeye team he thinks has no peer.www.hawkcentral.com

Sounds like a good goal, I would say.
I just posted the link because apparently nobody here can/wants to use googleJust another way for HR message board jerks to hate on an all-time Hawkeye great. Pathetic.
