I mean of course Sanderson can win a team title with nolf and Rutherford in the lineup. Who couldn't. Just wait until they are gone. They will never have two guys that can score bonus points like them in the lineup again.

The father of two of their wrestlers died yesterday so that might be why their heads are not in it. JoJo is injured...conference and NCAA bigger than a dual. Would have been nice to see DRinger up against Bo. I didn't expect much from OSU today to be frank.

Or they should ignore the injury like Stieber or even McDonough? Smith isn't known for hiding his wrestlers. If they are injured it is simple common sense to let someone recoup from injury so close to the post season.
You bring up a good point. Unless they do the College DUALS Championship like the CFB playoff vs an aggregate score in the indivudual Nationals, they should just cancel this bogus NCWA.

I see it as a situation similar to what Derek StJohn faced. When he tried to wrestle David Taylor straight up he got majored. After that match , in subsequent matches against DT he was very defensive and lost closer matches. He used that strategy the next year in the NCAA finals against Dake. He did nothing in that match. So I think Sorenson will be very defensive trying to keep it close. The probblem is Zain isn't T-shirt so I don't think being defensive will be enough. I'm looking forward to the matchup.
On another note, the OSU guy that Zain wrestled looked huge for the weight.

I think Smith was smarter to rest JoJo than Cael was to wrestle McCutcheon.
Oldest brother is/was a spot starter and younger brother has beaten the starter who has been out with an injury for a while now just beat the #2 ranked guy in the country on Friday
Actually, McCutcheon most likely is not hurt. Brace is just for show in case he needs to use it - like today (got him an extra point). Just knows that a default will be looked at more favorably by the B1G seeding committee than an outright loss. He is currently looking for a way to dodge his first round matchup at the B1Gs - he might just head right to the consolations to protect his seeding for nationals.
With Crutchmer appearing to have a season ending injury, Chandler Rogers is looking to be their guy at 174 going forward. Even if not a starter, if a wrestler's father commits suicide it affects the WHOLE team.
Also, their is no way a coach would bump up a Dieringer in a dual they couldn't win. I agree it would have been awesome for the fans, but if something happened to Dieringer it could be the first time Smith has a significant amount of people in Stillwater calling for his resignation.

Jordan and Chandler Rogers's Dad...sadly, he took his own life.
Chandler just beat #2 Ethan Ramos on Friday so I think he could have hung with Bo a little bit better than the backup they put in there.
There would have been fireworks for sure, Rogers and Nickal both big upper body guys. Rogers is 3-0 against Nickal in his career, except I believe all matches are in Greco, maybe one freestyle, but none in folk.
Smith if 100% we know is also good enough to wrestle toe to toe with Nolf. Would have been a much more tightly contested dual if those two were here, and Nevills was there for Penn State.
So that was our college wrestling championship duel match of the year?
