******Purdue vs Iowa Game Thread******

SERIES HISTORY

• Purdue has won three straight and nine of the last 11 games in the series dating back to 2018.
• The Boilermakers have won the last two meetings in Iowa City, winning 84-70 last season and 83-73 during the 2021-22 campaign.
• Iowa is 5-4 in the last nine meetings with the Boilermakers in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes’ last win over Purdue came in the 2022 Big Ten Tournament title game -- a 75-66 victory.
This season has been so bad, it feels like that game took place 10+ years ago.

Team is going to need to play a lot better than they have in 3 weeks to even make the game competitive. The guards have been the main difference the past few weeks. I am not sure why they have been so bad, but they need to get back to being really good on both ends. If I were Fran, I would challenge Dix to lead. I still think he can be as good as any off guard in the B1G. Thelwell is always competitive. Harding needs to create on O, and stay in front of his man on D. Traore and Dembele need to play better than they ever have as a Hawkeye., especially defensively and on the boards. The Sandfort bros need to be hot, and make a strong effort to guard. And, our ace in the hole, Riley Mulvey needs to show that he belongs on the court in B1G games.

Purdue is gonna shoot the lights out and win the rebounding (& 2nd chance points) battle by an embarrassingly large margin.

IE, just another Iowa game.

I haven't see PU play this season--can someone explain how we're only a 7.5-point dog?
I have watched more than half their games and the 7.5 point spread is unexplainable. Unless Purdue comes to the game half asleep they will win by 15/20 in a cruise. JMO

Purdue may be taking the Hawks for granted and the game is in Carver……

Seems like the type of game where Iowa pulls the upset. Hawks by 4.

Typically anytime we play. Fran just elects to be very inconsistent with when he deploys it. Often waaaaay too late in the game.
Purdue hasn’t really had any issues with the press. Especially now that they have 3 solid guards and a favy vet in fletch.

Have fun watching tonight, ya'll.

I will catch the occasional score update, but fully expecting the Boilers to have little problem dispatching the Hawks this evening.

I like the starting lineup given the circumstances. I'm glad Harding isn't starting for some petty reason (on my part). Lends credence to the rumor that Harding is hitting the portal after this year too. Maybe it's as innocent as they want a little more height but I suspect not.

I presume there isn't an announced reason / injury regarding Harding, that I've seen anyway.

I'm a damn glutton for punishment. I've got it on - at least for a little while.

lulz. Guy says only way Iowa wins is if they make 15-20 threes and play zone pretty much all game long.
